Pretty happy with my "season". Got in about 210,000 vert ft in 11 days of skiing. 2 separate trips.
Mineral being closed on my 2nd trip sucked. My daughter would have loved Baldy lift for sure. As it was, FL girl shredded Little Cloud a few times, and was smiling ear to ear.
Nice to meet the Infamous (it means- MORE than famous) BobMc. Sad to miss DTM and HugeHairDog that day, but probably better for my 51 year old body with a 25 year old brain. I left the snow a lot more than expected, and it all worked out, but I gotta pick my days. Looking forward to next year.

Rough being back home after an 8 day trip and missing both big storms, how it goes and was still fun spring skiing last week. Chased my buddies 14y/o nephew who's an AltaBird Jr freeride team athlete around much of last week, somehow coming out of it unscathed.

ASP sure had their hands full with real work today. The only thing I've seen around they think was an internal prank.

Might walk over to the Polar Bar to make sure they didn't get another stripper.

doesn't get much better than today. people have quit skiing, pretty good dump, 15 degrees up top and pretty much below freezing all day. Killer conditions with a pretty stable snowpack. Wish I had bailed from work earlier but skiing from 1-4 absolutely ripped.

Years ago, there was a fella what hung out at the bird. Patrollman Fog was his name. Stick and stuffing kinda man. Used to wear a patrol coat and hang out just far enough past a place where folks wanted to duck a rope wheres they couldnt tell his identity.
We took Fog, on skis, to the top of the Main Chute on April 1st one year. Aimed him down on a string, and called the Alta patrol on their radio that we just lost sight of a coupla folks going up Baldy. We waited til they were on top of the old Collins and bottom of the old Germ lift.
Giving em a second to look up, we cut the string and away Fog went. We had his feet braced, but not his tips, so after a bit his tips came in and he made a few quick turns and went over the front.
Best prank ever, no? Buddy gets on the Snowbird radio says Jimmy they got us. You gotta see this for yourself.
Well, Christmas afore they sent over 2 boxes of Winchells donuts. Ate 2 chocolates and went out shoveling on account of a low snow year with no snowmaking.
And they sent over a plaque on April 1st with three images. On the left was an early day computer graphic of a girl pushing a wheelbarrow full of candy. A Sweet tooth Certificate.
On the right was a chalkboard with Merry Christmas, Happy April Fools, hope you liked the donuts written on it.
In the center was a photo of most of the Alta patrol bent over with donuts shoved up their arses.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Packing for an Alta trip with a group Fri-Sun and trying to pick skis to bring.

How does the snow usually hold up after a storm like you just had? Looks like it will dry up by the weekend and then maybe start to get warm--is the reported weather on the website base temps or upper mountain temps?

got 4th chair wildcat, did 3 of those then 4 collins before I had to head down for work. Hardest I've seen it snow this winter from opening to when I left. Looks like it was 7" in those 3 hours. Completely ski on at wildcat all morning, singles line on collins was literal 2-3 minutes. Crazy good skiing and no people. Epic.Definitely real touchy though, skied off the 3rds traverse before the sidestep down to the high t and knocked out a 6-8" windslab that went with me all the way down to the T. No surprise patrol was out that way when I was probably ski cutting some stuff.

anything not N facing will be spring conditions. N facing probably will stay chalkyish this week but any sun instabakes off aspects this time of year.

April Fools sunset was nice. Snow was pretty touchy and moving, but manageable. Sandbox structure with grappel at the bottom of the new snow providing the ball bearings to let things go. Some pretty big naturals were observed. Good skiing though and also fun to get snow to move (when manageable)

There were plenty of people out for the sunset, no joke

Hope someone jumps on the night skiing ticket!

This is best time of the season to “night” ski since the sun stays up till 8ish so you don’t actually have to night ski (I have a pass that works at Brighton or I would)

Sneaker day at Alta with 9” new from lunch until close. Ski on lifts, no crowds, and plenty of fresh.

    Not too shabby for April.
