This season Unofficial Networks and Indy Pass came through at the last minute with financial support to help Hickory pay for liability insurance. It's not a huge number, but it's likely it (far) exceeds annual revenue after expenses.
Over the last two years they are working to reduce reliance on skiing.
If it snows enough this year, they will open lift served terrain.
There are surely more details, but that's the big picture.
