I’ve really been enjoying these sunsets.
That is pretty
First day on snow with 1 kid, nice to start the season.

Middlebury Snow Bowl, ski it when you can’t ski Vallee Bleue

Looks like the river is running good for a nice post ski canoe, eh?
fact.
I’ve been eyeing these on the sale rack at J Galatic HQ, pulled the trigger last night. Stoked. I apologize in advance if me buying wider skis changes weather patterns.
I got your soup
Two bowls apparently
After our last adventure on the 8th I asked the Young Jedi if he was up for another
Was receptive to the offer
I loaned some traction devices that might be helpful
Wheels up at 5:30
Missed the sunrise just east of Danville [and the sunset dropping down to Marshfield]
-8º in Twin forks but a balmy 8º at the end of this road
As this was his first visit and I was looking for exercise we hiked up the Ammo. I really enjoy this approach instead of being in the open plugging along the Choo Choo tracks.
Saw a couple very near the top who were in hikers and planning to buttslide down. I said "you could have stopped at Drummonds and rented micro spikes and poles" Reply was "We were in their lot and had an argument"
One of two areas of less than 10' that were icy, coached him through using a set pole for a secure step. "Why didn't we put the crampons on?" "It was a small stretch of trail with no exposure so better to figure out a solution when you don't have aid"
Was pretty awesome popping out at LOC with no wind and mid twenties, Sol warmed the cool fingers quickly
After wandering over to Monroe and a peak of Oakes we skinned across the Lawn
Was an interesting mix of sastrugi, pillowy powder and close outs due to ice marble sheets and no ski cramps.
Time to cramp up and hike to the summit
Was pretty funny when we got to the sign
Just as we arrive none other than Jonathon S skins up for a selfie.
We had a chat and he warned us about more of that marbled ice above Jacobs, Thanks for the beta. The new MVP 94s were perfect for loudly sliding down it
One super happy young man, things never worked out to get here with his brothers so it added some pleasure to his moment
The skiing was nice from Jacobs down, though I did get into some rocks, better than expected. Cog crowd eating marshmallows at Wambec didn't share anything other than diesel smell near the summit
Pretty spectacular day in the Whites 10/10 Will return
Today was good for a while
Then it rained
And the fog arrived
Nice to have an entire trail to myself to avoid the holiday Zorros
Balance day

"If the road You followed brought you to this,of what use was the road"?

Ottime
Fun few days at Killington, this am up top at 8 and views were phenomenal. Rain started around 11:30, made best of it as skiing was fun and lasted until soaked to the bone

Washed the car this afternoon in the driveway since it was 55 degrees F and sunny.
If it's too loud, you're too old
Skied this afternoon and had fun but dang that's a reset.
Still pretty good. Looking at maps for hiking tomorrow.
I <heart> hot tele-moms
Repeat after me - The snowmaking ponds are full, the snowmaking ponds are full...
Hi all, I’d like to reach out and introduce myself. Re-located to Maine from North Idaho a few years ago and have been slowly coming around to New England Skiing. I now frequent Sugarloaf on the weekends and it’s been interesting learning how to ski on firmer snow, but this year I’ve begun to really enjoy it. One thing I’ve really missed from the Inland Northwest is the easy access to backcountry routes. I took my first trip over to the Osekare at Black Mountain of Maine last weekend and had a blast. Looking forward to more snowfall so I can explore the backcountry in Maine and Eastern NH. The weather lately has been rough to say the least. The little hill we have in town had to momentarily throw in the towel until the temps drop so they can get the guns fired up.

Really enjoyed the photos Vt Freeheel and VTskibum. Time with children skiing is some of the best time.
Dhiler17, the previous two winters have been very poor for bc in NE. Slides and stream beds are about the only natural below treeline there is. BMOM has the largest glade network in Maine. We have been adding to it every year, but it is somewhat low elevation and much of it has less than ideal orientation. There’s other spots around, but they are not shared on the internet. Vermont has the most snow and the most pruning in NE. Jacques Cartier and the Chic Chocs are the best spots in Quebec for a road trip. The weather on Mount Washington limits what can be done there. Andrew Drummond had some good YouTube videos to give an idea what’s possible. The number one rule is if there’s good snow don’t wait on it, because it rarely lasts
