https://www.backcountrytalk.com/file...6&d=1741723999 The fat lady is warming up. Finally had the hot tent come back into stock Mr. M. I'll try and post pics when I get it set up. Next week likely. Canoeing could be in the cards as well.

Keep your eye on the forecast: -14 in Huntsville ovenght, despite temps in the plus the fwew days. Things will firm up, open water is a long way away.

Local ponds are on the verge of going wet. Always a crap shoot when spring break arrives and sure enough, thunder, lightning, and rain had its way with our hill. Too bad they are closed today after a freeze over night. Hoping they open later in the week. Driving a few hours for another ski gets old after awhile. Kinda like me I suppose. Bike is starting to get some miles again and when it warms up a little more the road bike gets repainted after a winter tear down. Seatpost had frozen itself into the frame and I had to use the reciprocating saw to remove it. Rocket surgery? First whirrled problems.

Went to BC for march break and came back to closed local hill. Oh well - maybe one more day up at Blue or something is in the cards but looks like that's a wrap for 2024/25. On the plus side, skied the most vert in a season this year (well since 2016) so that's cool.

@petey, regarding the seat post: if it is an aluminum post in a steel frame, next time, try drizzling ammonia cleaner between them. Slow process but it works.

I think we have this weekend here at Boler as the finale. They always push the limits between skiers and well run business. Drive to London or Collingwood Paulster?Hah! Maybe some rain here overnight. Spent the last few days at Pinery in the new hot tent Gord. Instructions were feeble and I blame that for the lower flap position allowing rain drip in. No biggy as we were on cots. Wife approved Ammonia cleaner? Aluminum post and steel frame for sure but the saw worked like a charm. That post got hammered in back around 1975. Well and truly stuck. Next step is remove old paint and apply new.

Probably my last or second last day today at BM. Snow and skiing was actually pretty damn good. Very carvy and fast. Was expecting more brown but things look pretty good over all, but super thin coverage. Best year for cross country skiing in years.

Carvy and fast. I think the dirt layer in the frozen gives the snow a nice crunch. Fun stuff. Our local opens back up again tomorrow and after skiing there Sunday and seeing the coverage I expected this. Bragging rights are important to the southernmost ski hill in Canada. Rain Friday might lead to their demise but looking forward to a few more lift served runs locally.

The brown was too sticky for me yesterday. Couple of runs and a beer on the patio seemed safer. Tasty stuff.

Anywho, thought that was the end of the season here in London. Woke up with an itch I need to scratch. Grabbed some skinny skis out of the basement that I havent/sic used in about twenty years. Rilled them up a bit and ready to go with rain in the forecast at 4 oclock opening time.

Ski box comes off the roof and canoe takes its place this weekend.

Spent all winter on 92s and then pulled out some ancient 62s for yesterdays/sic runs. Pretty damn sweet. Quick edge to edge and less drag on the soft old dirty snow. Might get out tomorrow for a final local lift served if it doesnt/sic rain too much. Funeral today so no sliding. More like a celebration. 100 years old. Dayum! Ill/sic be happy to make it within twenty years of her longevity. Sex, drugs and whatnot weighs hard on a body.

BM is having a rough time. They had closed temporarily ahead of the ice storm, then lost power dues to the storm and have been closed since while hydro is restored. Been about a week now. Longest in season closure I can recall.

Corn Harvest was great, 21 folks enjoyed the bountiful snow at Hidden Valley today. Thanks to the CSPS for hanging out and the HV management for letting us play there. The hill could have been open, there is that much coverage. Check the FB group for pics, ski ya next season!

OK, I am lazy and it is getting late. Pictures and report from the Hidden Valley Corn Harvest are live on the NY Ski Blog forums. A site well worth checking out if you think about skiing at Whiteface, Gore, etc: Here is the link https://nyskiblog.com/forum/threads/...951/post-83651

Wow! Lots of snow for the corn harvest. Great pics as well. Hope to make it to more outings for WWHSTA next year. Seems like my winters get busy with this that and the other. At least I made it to twig fest.
We went to Pinery last week and the new tent held up like a champ. Our Aquaquest tarp lost an edge with the crazy winds though. Camping for 68 years and that was the worst weather yet. Snow was blowing sideways and couldn't see more than fifteen yards. Got a bird sighting of a lifetime. A Golden Eagle hung out for awhile and made a half dozen Baldies look commonplace.
Sounds like Blue is open through the weekend but spending time with the family. The boards have been put away.
