Her and Steve Irwin are on a very short list.

5cm puncture to the heart it seems.

Irwin was putting himself in a risky situation intentionally. This is some straight up Final Destination shit, barely a full step removed from being hit by a meteor. What a tragic freak event.

I had a similar thought, but:

    1) Wiki says Needlefish are a shallow water species

    2) Wiki says being impaled by a Needlefish is actually shockingly common: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Needle...nger_to_humans

“We believe she died doing what she loved, in a place that she loved.”
Someone said this at a friends funeral once. Dude was a ripping skier, all round good guy. Died in a tree well. Hanging upside down while you suffocate is no way to die. It comes up at a lot of funerals/life celebrations and it always steams my vegetables.

well you can wank on about being on the edge, dieing doing something you love and all that BS

but in the end ... you are still just dead

the question might be how close to the edge is one playing just going for surf ?

Article quotes two different sources that conflict on the type of fish. Needlefish seems a lot more likely. Regardless, it's pretty messed up. One second you're ripping a dreamy Indo wave, the next a fish stabs you in the heart and you're dead before you've even realized what happened.

We are not sure the waves were dreamy. There could have been a nasty rip and side on shores blowing. The getting pierced part we can be sure off
