I really have no clue what to expect with the CA streets no parking. It is uncharted waters. I am just as concerned about Kirkwood. Like most places around the lake, it only takes one stupid person to create an unfathomable log jam on a slippery road. I should switch my shifts with someone and take monday tuesday wednesdays off and avoid the cluster all together.

Jesus, I am talking myself into more hiking.. lol

WTF happened to the forecast? Two days ago we were looking at a mellow week ahead. Now AR4 with some forecast calling for 21” precip for the feather river basin

NV Energy announced a public safety power outage (possible) for Truckee for tomorrow AM, lasting 1-2 day. Fortunately for those of us who live here it looks like the temps will stay above or just below freezing until Saturday or so. Sorry to be hoping for rain rather than snow. Looks like the outage will affect some Liberty customers as well.

My buddy was supposed to wire up a transfer switch for me last week, but ended up not being able to get parts on time. That just about guarantees the outage. My kids would rather freeze than go to school, so they're stoked.

With any luck the outage will prevent me from working and weather will be chill enough so I can run down and spend some quality time with the folks at Moment.

We have on-snow training scheduled this weekend at PT. Looks like a perfect weekend for it

    Let's get it on!!!

FWIW the last time they threatened a public safety outage, summer of 23 I think, it never happened. So fingers crossed.

Got the same notice from NV Energy here in Reno, on Mt Rose highway. They shut off the electricity this morning around 5 AM. It's very windy here in Galena Forest. NV Energy latest update was that outage would be restored by noon tomorrow... great.

Spent some time hooking up the generator and connecting the pellet stove to the camper batteries, so we have some power and some heat for now.

In other news my better half just asked me how long I'm going to continue skiing at The Renamed Resort as Placer County allows it to become more and more resort-like

Well, no shit, didn't see that coming. The whole community is against it, but for some reason voted for Cindy again. As a lot of people in this country are about to find out the hard way - you get what you voted for. Cindy hasn't even been pretending to represent the Tahoe community. On the plus side, it will be tied up in court for a while, and even if it does happen the time line means most of us won't be skiing anymore by the time it's done.

And holy shit! I've been locked out of my account for a few months since the great TGR crash of '24. I'm back in the club! Time to destroy all the brain cells that grew back the last few months.

Power went off in Galena at 4:30 a.m. this morning. Not scheduled to come back on until 12:00 p.m. Thursday. I’m at 6000 ft and tonite might get a bit chilly.

I'm only saying it's time to get your local infrastructure under local control or some beings residing in the nebula of private equity will drop a water park from orbit and then you are trying to get to Rose Meadows Resort Village Gondola Plaza on a powder day but stuck in traffic on 431 that backs up to midtown.
