The answer is 1/2 bib, but alas
You're forgetting ski capris and also GorePro booty shorts as viable options.

For years the answer for me was Arc'teryx Sabre pants with First Gen Procline suspenders. Sewed on elastic loops and swapped the suspenders between my touring and lift-served pants.

yeah those minimalist arcterxy suspenders are great, I had some loops sewn into some patagonia soft shells so I could swap the suspenders over

Yeah...my preference is basically pants with suspenders that have a back panel of some sort. Or bibs that only go to belly button height and use a stretchy/breathable fabric above the waist.

Like the Stio Environ...but a little baggier and built with a heavy duty 3L. Or Flylow tannen but not a softshell. Or like those obermeyers linked above but not a mystery stretch fabric...

Adding suspenders to pants doesn't quite get you to the same place as the higher back+panel does a lot to close the gap and keep snow out when bending over. I suppose you could add a zipper and then reuse suspenders from another pair (which I might just end up doing if I can't find pants for this season).

Burtons top line bib this season are more like a half bib. Tusk 3L pro, with some form of back panel and front section which comes up roughly to belly button with net pockets. Incredibly expensive at full price though.

I have some of the revised Helly Hansen Sogn bibs coming in the mail. We'll see how they fit. Seen mixed things about the "Helly Tech Professional" fabric...but hopefully the current iteration is a solid 3L.

Fit for my 6'2/195 is perfect; all the function of Arc, but don't look like I'm going to the moon with a pocket protector and Morris haircut...both cargo pockets have beacon/phone pockets inside, and, they added a zippered back pocket, and a zippered front pocket just above the right zippered cargo. Really nice layout, super comfy, spots for the one hitter, bag o gummies, gloves, and cc/keys. My personal faves so far. Oh, they're not lined either, just shell, and outside only vents. See how they hold up, but I'm stoked.
I may have to check those out and just run them with suspenders. Seems like a really nice pocket layout.

Those burtons look pretty sweet too although I'm not into the colors. That's about the exact amount of bib and even though they are touring focused, they are gore tex pro so they should be pretty burly.

Too bad you seem to be stuck on Gore-Tex because this stuff works well: DERMIZAX[emoji2400] NX. Ortovox, for example, uses it.

My great experiances with the dead bird folks possibly could be cuz I have either shown up at Arcterxy HQ in north Vangroovy OR got stuff sent in by my local dealer when he was sending in other warranty items so i didn't have to pay for shipping but its just never been a problem

I was a bib guy for years but with touring I found bibs are just TOO hot, now i'm a pants guy

I would see a lot of sweaty people touring at Burnie cuz the week would be their once year hut trip so outa shape and overdressed, a lot of people wear too much

Since i'm a fan of those like XXXer you get nice horizontal-opening pockets (plus 2 standard vertical ones, i keep my beacon in one of those), fabric is decently sturdy, fit is comfy/roomy. Only thing you might not like is that vents are on the outside of the thighs (no net or lining). You also get the double option for cinched waist straps and standard belt loops.used em a lot and i have to say they worked pretty well.
How is the sizing on the gravity pants? I think I'm a M (6'1", 31-32" waist, 170lbs) but if they run tighter like some other "euro-style" pieces I'd be inclined to size up to a L and wear a belt
