I awoke last night to the sound of thunder

How far off I sat and wondered

Apparently the 1962 song Bob was humming was Be My Baby by the Ronettes.

And to answer your question--the sound travels 1 mile per 5 seconds from the lightening to hearing the thunder.

"My Lightening Tracker" app is your answer. It's essential for all outdoors peeps and the otherwise curious.

Unlikely - Be my Baby wasn’t released until August 1963

    Anyway
She was a black haired lady with big dark eyes,
Points of her own standing way up high
    Way up firm and high…

seger said it himself it was be my baby
    1962 rhymes better than 1963
even though it was released in 63 couldve been conceived in 62

I think Bob Seager was a Rossi Strato kind of guy; Volants would be too bourgeois for him.

    Strange how the night moves
