You’re having trouble following along, suffice to say, Wirth is a grade A douchebag and Bode is too stupid to care. Buh-by Peak

Gaijin - I recommend talking to some people who have business dealings with those two twats for insights.

Peak's marketing plan is/was hilarious. They must think we're even dumber than Bode.

Karma usually wins in the end.

You don't know what you're talking about. Everyone in the Tahoe area knows Wirth is a piece of shit (see: everything that happened with Squaw). There's a reason he was absolutely despised. Total douchebag.

I’ll believe you, then. Bummer to read. Peak could have been rad.

One thing I can say is a lot of good skiers I know at Big Sky ski Peak skis and speak very highly of them. Took awhile to catch on but I saw a lot of those skis in the tram line last season.

I just don’t know why one would get Peak skis with many better options. ON3P for one.

Those two brands make completely different types of skis. Not much crossover in their target skier types.

Both Bode and Dav are two of my coming-of-age heroes. I'd love to ride their conglomerate all-mountain ski.

But Dav wearing his Red Bull hat and Norrona T-shirt in his Peak 104 vid is quite telling. He's still marketing more than designing.

Bummer. It was a rad team of various styles of skiers coming together to create an all-mountain quiver. But the latter end of my perspective is that these guys don't even ski anymore.

Why in the world is Redbull and Norrona in your foundational ski promo vid... that is also only 1 minute long?

Goddamnit. Gaijin is frustrated again. I do this-- I overanalyze and type too much about people that inspire me and upset me.

Sorry about that. My name is Gaijin for a reason. I feel like a foreigner all the time. I'm always confused as to why such successful skiers could fail so hard.

    Gaijin,

You gotta separate the man from the athlete. Bode is a badass skier, and one of the greatest American racers of all time. No arguments on that.

But the character of him, well let's just say watch your money around that guy. Look up all his failed business ventures, and there are many of them. He sold out to Bomber skis and Crosson skis before doing this venture. He did an app called Skeo, and he was going to open up Bode Miller Academy when he suddenly pulled out. He always seems to do financially well on those failures while others lose.

Why do you think he often partners with that piece of shit, Andy Wirth. They are two scum buckets.

Dav has a much better reputation but unfortunately he loses some of that by selling out and taking a paycheck from Peak. Dav had no design input on those Peak skis with his name on it. They were already designed and called the Peak SC model before Dav sold out and joined Peak as an athlete. Then they renamed the ski Peak by Dav.

Bode has been selling his name for years to make a buck off of people who admire his tremendous skill at skiing. It's one thing to do that, but he is a charlatan in the way he does it.

This is the last I will say on it, but look this shit up and talk to people who have dealt with Bode or Wirth.

I can still see Bode at 08 WC miss the gate to come over fall away at Whistler on his uphill ski/ uphill edge somehow looking amazing/ in control/ better than everyone else when he should have been tangled up in a net, I'm still impressed

I have no idea about Bode the human but y'all sound like the guy complaining about Bob Redford to Gene Hackman in " Downhill Racer "

Whatever might be going on with the brand is happening way above Bode and Dav's level.
I have had dealings with both of them over the years. Chris Davenport is a stand up professional guy and Bode is "well, that's, Bode". It's a phrase you hear a lot in those circles.
Not a knock, it's just how it is.
You stand in the start gate and win and then you can tell him different. Pretty simple. Scoreboard.
Never skied on a pair of Peak Skis, but people do seem to like them.
I'm fond of saying that having a brand sponsor you is like having a job, a girlfriend or a credit card. Once you have one, you have a chance at another, but without one, it's a hard nut to crack.
Obviously, your results, being maggots, will vary.

I've never met Bode but have met a few that know him. He's definitely touched but apparently (was?) a nice guy to party with. Doing business, who knows, but based on this thread it doesn't sound good.

I know a guy who is similar maybe and possibly we all do. Love to go out and drink and have fun with him. He's a ripping snowboarder, surfer, and former pro skater toured the country with coke or Pepsi, anyway great fun guy. Business dealings...forget it! Won't go near him. He's horrible and an asshat. It's weird. But all of us that know him know, so we just deal with him on a social level and keep on keepin on.

Thanks for that. It's obviously a Peak commercial, but still very informative about his process. I had no idea he was that involved with K2 and Fischer. I guess I'm young.

Anyway, I think the "Key Hole" marketing fiasco is what's getting lost in the translation. Volkl broke up their top layer of Titanal for the Mantra series, and then extended it to other skis. Blizzard followed suit with Anomaly. K2 is trying to figure out their Y-Beam concept. It seems like Bode is trying to reduce torsion in the same place as every other ski manufacturer.

But his "dumb as a rock" speech makes it sound like-- "Just drill a hole in the metal in front of the binding." (BTW, Bode, I'm dumb as a rock, that wasn't a dig.)

IDK, that video did nothing other than inspire me to try a pair of his skis. Racing for decades on broken ankles and telling other ski manufacturers that he quits because they won't let him design skis the way he wants to is FKNA American.

He's always been an icon in my world... I just had no idea he had so much input into the builds from day one. I had no idea he designed the Merlin V, with his own hands. /mind-blown.

I think he brought Dav in for marketing. NTTAWWT. Both Bode and Dav in an R&D relationship is super cool to me. I hope whatever dust rustling their startup feathers settles down.

And it's not gonna work to call any of them a douchebag anymore. I'm a douchebag. Your insults don't hurt. Squaw has nothing to do with Peak. If anything, lessons learned, water under the bridge, and all that.

(But, Dav--- next time you all shoot a promotional video [that should definitely be more than a minute long], take off your other sponsorship obligations.)

Go skiing. Hire a drone. Pay some measly money and get your word out. Go ski some rad shit. And saw your ski in half. Who does that anymore? "Everyone is going to copy you." ... So, give them something to look at! Don't be afraid of being copied. Say-- "Copy me."

No one said Squaw had anything to do with peak - it has to do with Wirth being an untrustworthy POS.

    Well said, TahoeJ.

It has been spelled out as much as possible. But there is no getting through to some people. Some people just want to believe I guess. Sigh.
