School me on dirt jump bikes

Moved less than 20 minutes to a velosolutions pump track and dj lines. Long torso short legs makes me think long tech like 440 or so. Old bones make me thinks steel frame.

Me wants a bike that will predictably transfer lines in the pumptrack, manual well, non-twitchy, and of course, jump well. I won't be doing any tricky shit like barspins, but hope to get a 3 one of these days by way of some airbag sessions available closeby.

Yt dirt love, tranny pbj, maybe propain trickshot... others?
    Thoughts?

They are all compact and stiff for the most part, so material matters way less than you would think. The geo and design have pretty much been the same for an eternity in bike years, other than maybe TT length, which is preference and height-dependent. My DJ is 13 years old and I cant think of a reason to update it. With that in mind, find the one that fits your budget and keep it forever.
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

dj geo is less about fit and more about usage imo, and while they dont vary a whole lot, they do vary

im 6'3'' and have 400 (ns majesty dirt) and 420 (nukeproof solum) reach frames, both with 3.5in rise bars and both fit well for their uses, bar rise changes fit more than anything else on a dj, i use steel bars and a front load bmx stem and love it, could do top load to increase stack even more if desired

the majesty has a taller bb, which makes it feel smaller, but also gives it a lot more pop and makes it fun for park riding, at the time it was considered the "dirt" model, but compared to todays frames its more on the bmx side
if this frame was longer and had a tapered headtube it would be just about perfect for how i want a dj to feel

the solum is the older steel version, its super stable, one of the best frames ive ridden honestly, just feels buttery and smooth, but the rear end does flex a bit and you can rub the stays when giving it the beans on paved berms even with 2.1s

i tend to prefer steel frames for dj use, not that material is the only variable, but generally i prefer the slightly muted damping aspect of steel over al, just feels a little less buzzy, a little more flowy, i also run steel cranks and bars

most newer dj frames are on the low bb, slack ha, long reach bandwagon, only a few go for more bmx ish geo anymore
it sounds like you want mtb style, for those frames i do like pbj a lot, monk also very nice riding frame, the absolute also one of the better feeling al frames ive been on

    Great info thx!

Good to know al vs steel might not be that big a factor.

I think i am looking for more mtb style than skate/bmx. I prefer long reach for my height with bikes in general.

I'll continue to keep my eye out for a pbj, absolut, and dirtlove. I'll look into the monk.
