    Best all around 3CCD Camera?

So, i need to upgrade my camera....looking at a combined christmas, b-day, and some of my loot combo from the rents...

Gonna want it for fliming skiing obviously, and since I am now a film major I will be using it for all kinds of projects and shit too, but mainly for skiing..

XL1 seems to big to be practical...i have used GL1s alot in the past, so a GL2?

    whats your thoughts?

    thanks

(sorry if my search skills dont meet the "look through all 700 pages first" criteria)

I've used the GL2 and it is quite nice but i'm a Sony man myself....i have an older VX2000 that has held up extremely well. I've got a fisheye for it and a boom mic, couldn't be happier. I'd recommend checking out the newer version of it as an alternative to the GL2. Either camera is gonna work well for you though....and yeah the XL1 is way to big in my mind especially if you are gonna be skiing with it...

There is a more consumer Sony HDV camera available; I know you asked about a 3ccd camera, and yes, it's only one chip, but the performance is amazing, as is the HDV picture quality. We demoed one here at work when the rep brought one by, and it's cool. MSRP around 1500, street prices closer to 1200. It's also a fairly small camera.

The Sony FX1 mentioned above is amazing as well, and it's 3ccd. We played with one of those and it's got a much more "pro" feel than the one above. You should be able to find the FX1 for less than 2k - but it's big like the XL1 and not the most pleasant thing to carry around...

Well when I last looked 2 years ago the best bets for under $2000 were the Canon GL2 and the Sony PDX10 (stealth model not highly promoted because they realized it's quality matched the VX2000/PDR150 and were afraid it would undercut the VX2000 sales).

    PDX10 is 4:3 and 16:9 native chip.

I probably have a chart that compares em if you need info.
