    IRS "Forgiveness" programs/services

I know they're not exactly what they claim to be and get paid to negotiate for you. Anyone ever used one or know the secret they know (if there's one at all of course)?

those services are executing an offer and compromise for you.

They work the best if you owe a lot and have very limited current income and assets.

Its a good thing to do (address old tax debt) prior to inheritances or starting new high paying jobs.

I've never used them but have done offers and compromises for clients in my previous professional life.

offers and compromises are legit and I have settled cases for 25 cents on the dollar.

You basically have to show the IRS that they have a chance of getting nothing from you.

I am not sure what other scam those places are running fee wise though.

If I were to go that route I would just hire a CPA and go from there.

Yeah, just pay a CPA their hourly rate for that. Anyone with a decent tax practice will be well versed.

Don’t use them. I’d look for a reputable tax attorney or a CPA that focuses on tax.

But why do you want an offer and compromise anyways? Have you already established what you owe? Did you use an accountant for that? Did they try to get an offer and compromise? The question is a little odd because usually “what do I owe” comes first and the firm that helps you fight that battle typically does the offer and compromise.

Did one (OIC) successfully for my ex and doing one for myself rn. Master above is basically correct. It works if you’re poor as shit like me and owe a shit ton. No secret sauce.

And yeah, shore up on exactly what’s owed also.

Don’t practice tax specifically but I could, legally and ethically speaking, help you especially if you just wanna know more. Those firms can take it off your plate, so to speak, but they just charge more than the service is worth most times. Feel free to DM me. Not looking to score any $$.

ETA: ex’s was even less than .25 on the dollar, more like .001% of what was owed.

If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!
