So then the assumption there is that they are not coming back in order for these cap numbers to make sense?

Well, the assumption is that they are not currently on the roster and do not have a number attached to them for purposes of Boston's cap. Boston can re-sign them and add to their cap number, or they can sign others, or trade guys. It's just cap math, they don't count until they are signed.

Voodoo? Or free agency? Have you looked at a dictionary lately? Understand what "free agent" means?

Im referring to cap math as voodoo. Its like anything that asks for financial information at the present moment. It can be manipulated. So currently, they aren't technically on the team. Its all games.

I agree that cap math is total voodoo (though the NFL is worse). But this is not really "cap math" and not voodoo. They are not just *technically* not on the team, they are 100% free agents, not on any team, and free to sign with any team for any salary that the team can offer under the CBA. That's not voodoo, that's pretty straightforward.

Ok counselor, I concede. Legally, you are correct. My perception of the situation is muddied because while they haven't signed contracts to come back, nobody has said that they aren't coming back. Obviously team managrs use this period to their advantage, which again, contributes to the perception that they are playing games, in other words, voodoo. And yes, legally, I am wrong. Its not official until Wikipedia gets updated, dammit! lol

Bailey is the only one crying. In an ocean of laughter. Clown. A bunch of time in the G League? A few 10 day contracts? And then what? Is anyone really gonna play him or want him in their locker room?

If it makes you feel any better, riser (it makes me feel better), Brad has said he wants to bring both Luke and Al back. Whether that happens is anybody's guess.

Heh. However, will they be happy with whatever he wants to pay them?

Maybe not, he has to trade others to be able to offer them more than the vet minimum.

That doesn't sound real, that sounds like the rumors that twitter pundits dream up and post for the clicks.

So who's gonna be their "Big"? KP is gone.

Big Al is getting old. I'd love to see Al finish his career in Boston, but i feel like he's got another year before he should be on a vet minimum. He did look tired this year and started and played more minutes than I thought he was originally supposed to. I hope Brad can cook up something they'll both not be totally unhappy with.

And then LK. Is he overpriced for what he delivers? Definitely someone i would want as a backup big, valuable bench player. I liked his chemistry with White, Hauser, Pritchard, etc.

This doesn't solve the Big problem in Boston. Knicks were able to double big us, among other things. Who do we want? And please, no skinny guys.

2024-2025 NBA thread: who wants to buy a Duck Boat?!?!

I’m stoked the Jazz landed Ace. I think he’s the best player in the draft outside of Flagg. Dude can hoop! And Utah needs a wing.

I’m not worried about what his agent was doing before the draft. Plenty of agents try to get their players to land somewhere, but it’s not like the player isn’t going to play basketball. Steph Curry also didn’t want to go to Golden State and we know how that all turned out…..

Also glad the Jazz didn’t draft another Baylor guard.

It’s tricky for the Jazz. Curry didn’t want to go to Golden State because at the time they had cheap shitty incompetent owners. With Utah, the franchise is fine, it’s that a lot of the black players just don’t want to live there.

Right - but black players having issues with Utah goes back decades. The most famous black player they’ve ever had was a country guy who liked to sleep with underage girls so he fit right in with the Mormons. ;-)

2024-2025 NBA thread: who wants to buy a Duck Boat?!?!

Can’t get mad at that zing.

Utah will never be a desired destination for NBA players, no matter the color of their skin. I just hope more players embrace Jordan Clarkson’s attitude, cash the check and realize it’s a short flight to LA so the team can back to above average mediocrity.

I do think Ace Bailey has talent and I’m excited to watch him play for the next 5-7 years before he bails for a bigger market and continues to get eliminated in the 2nd round ala Donovan Mitchell.

He is from Tennessee and said he likes to fish so theres a little hope that Utah, and our passive aggressive racism, goes on him. Also glad that Danny Ainge DGAF about what his unlicensed agent said and drafted the best available player anyways. It’s called the draft for a reason, if you don’t like it stay in school.

We still have Queta and Tillman on the books.

LK had great chemistry with Brown too. Cookies and Cream! I read something like they had the most effective pick and roll in the league this year.

I’m very happy we made it through the draft and retained White and Brown. If Brad tightens a few things up I think the C’s can really contend this year. I’m looking forward to see how Brown reacts ( excels? ) at being the “leader”

I’ve been trying to get into watching the Red Sox and even the WNBA, it’s just not even close to the same excitement, I’m looking forward to October and some NBA action again

Who? LOL. Ya, I know. Queta made regular season appearances. I like him, but he needs to step up if we are going to start him, especially in the post season. I like Tillman too, but I dont recall seeing him much, if at all. He too needs a major development breakthrough to be a post season big. At least they aren't skinny. I keep thinking of solidly built bigs like the Knicks double teamed us with. That's where my mind goes. Beast mode that can take hits and like celestial bodies with enough mass, clear their orbits of other objects.

Yup. I hope we can afford to field those two again. See my next take.

I'm not confident that Brown and or White are staying. I think there's a lot of pressure on Brad. Hopefully he doesn't panic and do something rash. I'll breathe a sigh of relief when they are still there on opening night in October.

Ya, I'm trying to just not turn the TV at all. I have some books I want to read. So far I haven't read a word. And I binge watched 'Fool me once' on Netflix which wasn't that satisfying.

    lots of shit going down.

Nuggets trading MPJ to the Nets for Cam Johnson, saving a LOT of money. Also, they're signing Bruce Brown.
