    Tahoe is stil smoke free.

There was a fire started a few weeks ago that could have been a problem, but air attack really pounded it and got it under control pretty quickly.

?? Wildfire Has Hit Jasper ??
    Photo from Christopher Windsor ?
'Just got word that the fire has now made contact with Jasper. Maligne Lodge is gone and the Petro Canada has exploded. This is unbelievable.' - Christopher Windsor
    Key Developments:
    - Evacuation Order: The entire park, including the Jasper townsite, was evacuated, affecting around 25,000 people.
    - Wildfire Size: The fire has grown to approximately 10,800 hectares.
    - Structures Impacte: Some structures within the park have been damaged, but the extent is unknown due to inaccessible areas.
    - Evacuee Route: Evacuees were forced to head west into British Columbia and then to reception centers in Calgary, Edmonton, and Grande Prairie.
    - Firefighting Efforts: Crews are working hard to protect the townsite and evacuate people from the backcountry.
    - Weather Conditions: Windy conditions are making firefighting efforts challenging, with rain expected but possibly insufficient to control the fire.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected. Stay safe, Jasper!

Waiting to hear how much of our town is gone. Some of the pictures from yesterday show the block between my place and my mother in law's completely engulfed. Hoping for some of the town to still be there. Jasper has been my home for 30 years, maybe we still have something to go home to

Seeing stories that the situation in Jasper is very grim. I'm just glad they were able to evacuate (hopefully) everyone.

So sorry to hear this. I hope your place is ok and friends and neighbors are safe. Made my first visit to Jasper this past April. Such a wild place and cool town. Breaks my heart to see the news. Vibes.

Sorry weibo. I wish I had stopped when I drove through Jasper at night but we were on a mission. Gas, coffee and go. The silly things that kids in their 20s do...

There is some hope for our place but some very close friends don't have that option. Waiting on some confirmation and video that goes all the way along our block. Not holding much hope for my wife's Mom's place, her childhood house, 80's cedar siding a shakes on a street that seems mostly gone.

    Oregon stretched too thin:

207pm Milton Freewater: 2nd fire moving fast near the other one, york rd area, homes threatened,

210pm 50 acres moving fast to the east , Umatilla county has no more trucks to send

217pm Umatilla county requesting a state incident management team respond

220pm more mutual aide coming from WW

228pm WW river rd is closed, now a structure fire

Saw that post, originated from Old Skool Snowboarders page. A couple others as well, but nothing confirmed officially. My hope is a few lower buildings maybe impacted, but lifts, major infrastructure and equip got missed.

Lots of politics already playing out on the social media pages. This is a National Park and is under Fed jurisdiction, not provincial. Resource MOU’s with AB wildfire service in place, but the parks call the shots. Hoping the conversation stays civil. No casualties so far, and buildings can be replaced.

Weibo, Whipski, and any other Jasper mags, I’m just down the hiway, let me know how I can help.

    Word.

I'm not afraid to set up a GoFundMe for our Jasper mags (can you GoFund Canadians or is there a Canadian .ca equivalent?).

Hopefully not needed but we all know this gang takes care of its own....
