    Cloudveil softshell pants/bib ?s

I got jong-ed (http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35709) posting this ? in Ski/Snowboard, so here it goes in Tech Talk:

Does anyone know the differences between a Cloudveil Black Ice Bib and an Ice Floe Bib?

I suspect the Black Ice is the current year's version to replace the Ice Floe, but I'm not sure. I can see the tech specs for the Black Ice on the Cloudveil site (their recent winter line), but can't locate much spec info whatsoever on the Ice Floe. Cloudveil lists the Black ice as a softshell, and what little I can find on the Ice Floe I suspect it's the same.

Anyone using an Ice Floe, how do you like it?

And to expand it some more, any opinions/comparisons on similar bibs from AcrTeryx, Patagonia, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear and perhaps Millet? From their website I don't think pattie is making any bibs this season.

I use the symmetry pants and the serendipity jacket. I like 'em both for breathability, but always wear them under stuff in the winter. They are awesome in spring conditions. I just found that they feel a little exposed in windy conditions. Not cold, just exposed. Hard to describe. I also like to have some padding on my legs. One pair of Capilene long johns and the symmetry pants does not pad very well from anything. I wear them under a nice pair of bibs, and they are awesome. get some.

    My default layers:
    lightweight polypro longjohns
Thick wool or polypro pants (dropped if warm)
Cloudveil Ice Floe bibs or symmetry pants

lightweigh polypro long sleeve (only if cold)
med weight poly pro long sleeve.
    windstopper vest.
    Cloudveil Serendipity
    polypro scarf if cold.

This keeps me generally fine. I ski PNW, CO and UT.

I have to admit to getting a bit of a chill now and then those breezy days I skied Alta last year with Natty, Re, Karl Stall and Truth. I guess I'm a wuss.

No, was thinking about doing that. Will give 'em a call.

So I did call CS. The Black Ice Bib is the update this year for the Ice Floe. There's a dfference in the cut & fit, Ice Floe a little bigger, and the fabric in the Black Ice is ridged (Textured Dryskin Extreme) and so more abrasion resistant than the regular version.
