RIP Grateful Red…
RIP Grateful Red…
Sad news indeed. Loved his attitude that he brought to all things.
Fare thee well, Bill.
I still call it The Jake.
( I) missed this, first look -
Thank you for this thread --
A Different person, his nba career is argued elsewhere.
to me, a Special player ( when healthy ) ---
That he worked for seven years to comeback to play with LarryLegend in '85-'86 ,
Bill called Red ,
Red called Larry -
'sign him, ' said Larry.
Watch some of the McHale interviews. Hilarious !
When he was healthy enough,
Bill Walton won.
And he was a Special player - A great player.
The 'Blazers against the 1977 '76ers -
down 0-2, the 'Blazers won four straight.
Champions.
Thank You, Bill Walton. !
my Conndolences to his Family and his friends !
With love
A fan.

RIP to a legend! That championship banner seems like so long ago!
"And if you go, no one may follow, that path is for, your steps alone."

Worcester ‘85 second set opens with the band, myself and 14,000 freaks singing Happy Birthday to Bill who was in attendance along with Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. They proceeded to blow the roof off with a monster Shakedown Street. Good times.
He was also behind me one night in the will call ticket line for a Jerry solo show at the Orpheum. At the end of the show he stepped up onto the stage and followed Jerry backstage. Gone way too soon, sad.

Bill and girlfriend/first wife lived in NW PDX. She brought their Volvo into my Dad’s shop for service. Would see them around the neighborhood- total hippies.
Ms TBS worked (briefly) for the docs that botched his foot/ankle issues. She said the office was totally dysfunctional and the docs were a bunch of drunks
Pearl Jam honored him at their show: https://youtu.be/_mCRK8onn50?si=zYMn_R8CPVxRyk1Z

Narrated by Bill Walton...
I really enjoyed that movie and it was one of the first things I thought of when he passed.
I still call it The Jake.
Bill Walton on Sports Illustrated Vault
Sports Illustrated was IT during Walton's time. There's a real treasure trove of stories on him in their vault. This is a pretty good one...

The tribute to him tonight at the Sphere was really, really cool.
Bobby and John had ‘32’ Stickers on their guitars.
