    Shogun on FX (Hulu?)

    Great show. Great acting.

Hottest Japanese girl I have ever seen.

    Highly Recommend.

We loved it too - seemed like a beautiful glimpse of Japanese history with superb acting.
About the actor that played Blackthorn, however ......
To be fair, the Directing could have intended him to be stiff and robotic. I thought anything would be better than Richard Chamberlain; I was wrong.

Take home message: anything can be a reason to commit seppuku, or kill a gardener or random peasants. [emoji3]

After all the hype I was a bit underwhelmed. Still very good.

This is my favorite book, and I recommend anyone who liked the movie to read the book. They skip so much detail and plot in the movie, its also an audio book and the reader does great work with the voices and such.

I was a bit disappointed with this show. The book is so much better

Yeah, that's how I ended up.

But despite my optimism, I felt like it's mission impossible to do this book well. There's just too much.

I might like Taipan better than Shogun.

There’s so much more going on in the book, the nuance is lost in a mini series.

Name me a movie that is better than the book?
It just isn't possible to cover as much detail in internal dialogue in a movie.

I would say Harry Potter came closest in my mind, but still was missing a lot.

Godfather, No Country, and Clockwork Orange were all better as movies.

Fail on your first two, a lot of details left out in the movies.

Just cause details didn’t make it into the movies doesn’t make them lesser. In the case of no country, there are details omitted, sure, but there are also tons of details added or altered. Chigurh is a different character in the movie and I think it makes him more compelling.

Godfather the movie is better than the book because it is a great movie and the book really isn’t that good. Puzo said so himself.

Hiroyuki Sanada closed a deal to return as Lord Yoshii Toranaga for Season 2. That's good news but how do we get Mariko back?

Which reader? There's a few audio books versions. Want to read/listen to it again. It's been 20 years since I read it

    Ha!

As long as they replace the Blackthorn actor, or do away with his character altogether ...... I'm in.

This version seemed to focus less on Blackthorn, and more on the central Japanese characters, and it sounds like the second season will move beyond the book, focusing on Toranaga's moving out into the open in his march to the Shogunate.

Sentient hot Zombie who lusts for carnal adventures is the way to go.

Or long lost twin sister who lusts for carnal adventures.

You see where this is headed.
