    Door Closer

I've got a Ryobi Doorman that is leaking oil. Googled a bit, didn't find anything about repairing that. The vids I found said it's time to replace if leaking. Does anyone know if that can be fixed? If it can't be fixed, what do I need to know to order a new one? I can't find a model# on it. The door is 105"x31", pretty heavy.

Once it’s leaking oil it’s toast.
Most residential closers are spring hinges. But sounds like you have a commercial closer.
Any cheap Chinese model will suffice. Norton or LCN is the brand name good shit. But don’t bother paying for that.
Once installed, adjust closing, back check and sweep. There should be three adjustments.

Nate I ask that you post a photo of the door closer so that I may better advise a course of action.

Unless it's a door closer to a padded room you're in the wrong place.

Ryobi makes door closers? Like the Lowe’s brand? So weird

Or if it's the door closer to the server room? Could explain the recent overheating and box fan failures.

Wouldn't that more likely be a problem with the door holder opener?

I think you may have solved the problem.

Why are you guys messing around with mechanical door closers? Our door closer has been with us for years. He’s a trusted member of the staff, like family. The kids like him even more than the butler

One does not simply rent a hydraulic turtle.

You have to go see the Dr first.

    Door Closer

    Real talk.

An LCN 4000 series, the standard ones you see on commercial buildings, will outlive your grandkids. But they are like $500.

Buy a $60 one at the hardware store. They typically can be configured for any door swing (LH/RH/RHR/LHR). There is a hex key adjustment on the end that adjusts the closing force. With your size door you might just need to crank it up a little….

Have you considered hiring a doorman? Maybe you can get a deal on a midget? Oompa Loompa?

Sorry stealurface, no pics. I had someone doing door closer shifts but one day he just walked out the door. Said the job was too repetitive... It's hard to find good door closers these days. I'd be willing to give the hydraulic turtle a try. Are those repairable if they start leaking? Thanks for the advice.
