    Newport didn't suck today 09/24/2005

I think the less a swell is hyped, the better it gets. Also, the OP Newport Classic scored pretty good 56th St. today.

Yep, we had better and more consistent surf yesterday than last weekend. Solid head high to a foot or two overhead with amazing shape. Caught one of the best waves I have ever had down here. Schweeet.

Unfortunately today is looking quite a bit smaller.

I thought he was just big-boned. I'm surprised he doesn't break boards, like, for fun.

Same shit happened to me the other weekend during Ophelia. Thought I could handle the steep drops. Thought wrong.

I love the backside barrel shot as well as the rail grab drop. I spent the weekend looking for places in Mammoth to stay for the winter. I guess the surf wasn't big enough for well-known big wave charger that I saw over the weekend. I heard the Blacks and Baja Malibu report from my brother, that rat bastard!

oh cool. i'll see what the deal is for the weekend and give you a ring. surfline showed some stuff filling back in by the weekend, so maybe a surf and a beer in the white bay will work out.
