My take after seeing it today... One of the better movies I've seen in a while right up until maybe the last 10 minutes. It's intense with a great cast, phenomenal cinematography and a seemingly brutal randomness a la No Country for Old Men or All Quiet on the Western Front. And it's not what you think it's going to be.

I'm not going to say anymore other than it is one that you should see in a theatre. Imax would have been almost too much. Streaming definitely wouldn't be the same.

Curious to hear what y'all think.

I liked it and so did all the people I was with. It would interesting to discuss but would open up some spoilers.

All I can say it was interesting that who was what side of the what is hard to determine. Why is not clear just what happens the situation unfolds.

Quick take:
That was one of the most visceral films I have seen in some time.
The pacing is fantastic and even though I saw the ending coming a mile away, it was still well done in terms of keeping the tension going until the inevitable conclusion.

If you dug Civil War, then I highly recommend BUSHWICK from 2017.
Not as polished as CW in regards to the dialogue, but it’s certainly gritty, visceral, and kinetic when it comes to the action sequences, which are filmed really well.
Solid, intense instrumental score from rapper Aesop Rock, too.

I have not....sorry, just saw this. I'll check that out along with Bushwick.

Watched CW again at a friend's the other night... definitely not as impactful on the TV as compared to a theatre, though they enjoyed it.

Edit: I love Aesop Rock.

Sadly, I think Bushwick would’ve been more impactful on the big screen, but it’s still a decent B-movie in regards to the pacing and action (again, some of the dialogue and a few situations are a bit weak, but it makes up for those with intense bouts of gritty bravado).

This seems to be a movie made by someone who wanted to make a movie about a modern us civil war, but couldn't conceptualize a believable scenario for one to take place in. Mostly because there are a great many things that make one near impossible today and its not really the danger we face, even from polarization.
