With the prior snowfall still soft, it was knee deep off piste, and as the packing occurred late Monday, the piste was 30-40 cm of fluff on smooth pack

Chains are often available for a day rental on the road up to the ski areas (sketchy tho). Google "cadenas de auto" for more options. Rarely do the police actually ask to see them, but it can happen, and they can oblige you to put them on, which is rarer still. I haven´t used chains in many years, and I drive in all conditions, with good AT tires and 4x4. It helps to drive at night when controls are slack. Peak morning time (8-11am), anything can happen on a bad road day.

Mornings on the Roca Jack travesia, afternoons on the Lake Run.
Mix in a Super C lap and it's a pretty strong program.
Of course, you'll need to eat four times a day, drink Pisco sours and dance at night.
    Portillo.

Warming up for a few days. Low hanging fruit is going

    Cono norte from Las Vegas

    Valle amarillo looking south

    Lower LP bowl

Groomers are insuperable right to the bottom

    Cerro Amarillo powder hunting VN

Dunno why, but three of Valle Nevados chairs (Andes Express, Embalse and gondola) were out of commission. Bad lineup on Enlace

So the NOAA Enso prediction is now "In summary, ENSO-neutral is expected to continue for the next several months, with La Niña favored to emerge during September-November (66% chance) and persist through the Northern Hemisphere winter 2024-25 (74% chance during November-January; [Fig. 7])."

Good news, more sputter sputter delays.

But will it be weeks with a lack of new snow until another river shows up?

Brutal. Reminds me of the road between Tangmarg and Gulmarg hopelessly knotted with 2WD gawkers and HAWS military vehicle for hours on end
