Labor law telephone court today.
The case was over in 23 minutes.
I presented 2 emails.
No lawyers.
The other guy never even called in.
I told 6 jokes.
Its the most fun you can have before 8:30 am.

Let's hear those jokes.
I still call it The Jake.
Ha, ha. Got to love the judgement by default.
Best of luck collecting
Wait, how can we trust this guy^^^ He's clearly not DJSapp
He filed for unemployment (I was just 1 of 3) but he forgot he emailed in asking about his check using his phone.
His excuse for missing work was his phone didn't work and his kid was sick. But no proof was provided on his behalf.
I have in his own email-
Me
"After 4 days you emailed about your check."
"So... your phone worked to ask about your check but not to call in?"
"You're asking about your check because you know you don't work here anymore right?"
"Did you forget you left all your stuff at work last week?"
Him
"Yes, Thanks I'll get my check and my stuff."
His excuse in his paperwork he filed was he was on medication and slept through his shifts.
"Well maybe he is confused with made up stories in his other cases. That's not a very good one and there's no proof, so it would be hard to remember that. "
And I closed with
"Have fun shoveling today."
I truly hope one of the jokes was "Maybe his phone isn't working again?"
I feel you. We spend way too much on legal fees defending this exact type of nonsense, with similar results of no-shows when they realize they're screwed. Or they're just dipshits and didn't mark their calendar.

Good on you for even trying. My company doesn’t bother fighting an unemployment claim. HR said our record is worse than the Browns.

Overall, I'm about 35-4 ish but that's for everything.
Unemployment, random NLRB, people that owe me money, whatever.
People know I win enough they don't try that much anymore.
Collections... maybe 2-3 deadbeats a year end up with a lien.
You have to practice, play the game right and not do bad things.
