SLC dining and Powder Mountain beta

Road tripping to SLC in 10 days. Will be skiing Alta, Snowbird, Snow Basin and Powder Mtn. Staying north of DT in Farmington. Questions are:

1. What are best dining options, reasonably close to Farmington.
2. Have skied all the above areas before except for Pwder Mtn. Any must hit runs or areas? Overall suggestions? We like steep terrain, trees, can ski anything, etc, but no cliffs or mandatory air. Hoping to not waste time trying to figure out the mountain.

Powder: Ramen at the Powder Keg is pretty good. If the band is good you might want to eat on the hill before going back to Farmington but some good options in Ogden. As for skiing, go on a storm day and embrace your inner hippie and focus on low angle tree skiing over chasing steeps.

LCC: +1 on diving into the SLC eats thread. The valley is your oyster for the drive home. So much good terrain, you can’t miss.

Basin: in and out burger in Centerville? Don’t really like skiing Basin.

Pow Mow is enormous and the lifts are slow - the skiing is super fun and not crowded, but just familiarize yourself with the map before you get there.

Ditto what utagonian said above about storm day skiing + ramen there.

On your PM day, lose the fear of wasting time. Things move slowly there. Almost skinning up slow but not quite. Plan on a bell to bell day. Depending on where and when, I average 2-3 rides up per hour. A change of mindset and expectations helps. Embrace the adventure.

Instead of “spinning laps” like one does at most resorts, I like to think in terms of big, multi-lift “loops”. It’s different.

Also, there are far fewer signs than at most resorts. Keep a trail map handy on your phone (it might not help much, especially on a storm day) or just stop caring where you are. If you don’t cross a rope line, you’ll end up somewhere. Bogging down in the flats is a bigger worry than mandatory or surprise cliff drops.
