Anyone been to the Canaries? Surprised nothing popped up in a search. Thinking about taking the fam there next xmas vaca. Kind of random but thought a combo of beach, parks, hiking, water sports, culture, etc to appease everyone....

I've been there twice and visited the islands of Tenerife and La Frontera. There is lots to do - let me know if you have questions.

I haven't been, but it is on my short list. I don't know where you live, but from Denver, Icelandic Air offers a 1-7 day layover in Reykjavik with transfer to the Canaries with no additional cost for the layover. That seems like a pretty fantastic 2 week vacation to me.

    Enjoy your trip!

I’d really like to mtn bike there if I get a chance to go again.

I keep reading about the locals trying to limit tourism due to the convenience from Europe and popularity with the British. I’ve seen the quote “systemic collapse” repeatedly. The d check some sources about overcrowding before I booked anything.

^^^^ Yes, and dogs ... they're on the flag
It got its name from dogs by Pliny (of beer fame). Talking of Pliny ... the guy got killed in the Pompeii eruption. The islands are an active volcanic zone.
It also has the highest point in Spain (did you know that Ben Nevis is NOT the highest point in UK, it's not even in the top 20 ... highest points are on South Georgia and Antartica ?)

Hating on the Baz is so hot right now.

On topic: I've never been, but if you want to surf Stick to the easy spots. The good waves have the nastiest localism in Europe.

If you get to Lanzarote go to La Graciosa. Car free Mini Island. Really cool. Go up to Teide spains highest mountain on Teneriffa. Take your skis if you're crazy enough [emoji6]
