You don’t use flat mode? I hate the feeling of being heel high on low angle, let alone flat, terrain.

Correct I don't use flat mode. My most common place has a 1.2mi low-angle approach (only gains 500' in that distance) and it's fine.

Has anyone else managed to explode an Alpinist toe piece? Specifically the toe-lever and it's locking assembly.

Maybe it's just me but I think that's the first Alpinist toe I've heard of blowing up. My impression is that they've always been pretty tough, all the way back to the OG KP's

Impressive, I broke a toe lever once doing something really dumb first. I have high confidence Marker would warranty that given my past luck getting them to send me replacements for things I’ve broken/worn out.

Step in is easy, pretty normal. Locking/unlocking the toes was too hard, as I mentioned above, but easy fix. That was for both pairs, but my friends old pair, and his newer pair both didn’t have this issue.

Low delta is a perfect for me. Skis well enough, but I’m not picky in that regard.
    Riser works fine for me.
Stepping into the heel (on the 10), requires a fair bit of force (27.5 boot, 180 lbs). Not ideal in some situations, but not a big issue either.

Rotating the heels is the big downside for me.
It requires a lot of force, and due to the single, short riser, you can’t get much more leverage. With a moderately heavy pack, it becomes really hard to bend down and get enough leverage on the heel to rotate it.

I haven’t used any other U spring bindings before, so maybe these issues are par for the course with that design.

Anyway, I hope this is useful for someone considering these.
For anyone not on TRG enough to keep up with things, here’s the thread on the heel risers we designed: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...Alpinist+riser

Two main advantages are a) getting a full 180 degree rotation is MUCH easier, since I designed the hole with that in mind. b) the riser heights and stability are much improved over stock.

We’re refining the design before the next manufacturing run in January. This is a maggot benefit project, I make zero dollars from it, but I encouraged my friend to price them so that his time spent on the manufacturing is compensated.

Is there any issue with running the heelpiece adjustment maxed out, like bottomed out at the very back of the track?

Engineers and designers know what they are doing when they set a limit. Adjustment track, DIN, FL410 for CRJ-200... etc.

On season four with my alpinist but Just got them remounted onto a new pair of skis. I noticed today that they mounted them with a 3MM heel gap. Adjusted them to zero. Seem to ski a noticeable amount better. But when walking uphill with the heel turret spun around and in the flat position, sometimes the boot will catch on the turret as I lift my heel up. Any advice on this from my alpinist gurus?

I've only seen that when the forward pressure is one click to tight, back it off slightly imo

Anyone get on the alpinist free yet? Curious if there’s any difference in performance
