    A Magical weekend,…..remembering Plakespear.

First & foremost big ups to Bluebird & everyone else who made the Magic summit a huge success this past weekend as Dexter stated here: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...d.php?t=117473

I just figured this warranted its own thread. One more dedicated to one of us who inspired just about all of us.

Let me say I never got the chance to meet Nils, I just followed his story like most on here & was completely floored when the “Nils has passed” thread was posted.

In the fall thanks to Sprite’s graciousness here http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...highlight=ullr the east coast crew made one hell of a kickass ski chair & decided it would land on the deck of beautiful Magic Mountain Vermont sometime this winter. Well sometime was this past weekend.

We were lucky enough to be graced with the presence of Miss Hoodie (Nil’s sister) & her very cool significant other Gary. Thanks for making the trip guys! It would not have been the same without you.

    The day:

Absolute crystal clear perfect bluebird. Pure New England danger zone, fast as hell, boilerplate goodness (unlike our friends to the North) Yes we were jealous hearing the snow totals pour in from points North. No matter, this would be a great day regardless.

The guests of honor with some Magical Easter ice.

Oh’ yeah, we skied……Miss Hoodie tearing up Talisman.

Bumpskier showing the death cookies who’s boss.

    Bluebird opening up the throttle.

Gary & Miss Hoodie getting off the legendary Red Chair, love to teetering sled.

    Magic’s newest season pass holder.

Unfortunately my camera ran out of juice for the actual chair dedication ceremony so if someone from the other thread could post those pics, that would be much appreciated.

    Onto the party:

We started out in the bar @ the mountain where Bumpskiers Dad made some kickass buffalo wings, along with a huge spread finger food. Again, no pics here as camera no worky. Someone else chime in please.

Back to our place. Miss Hoodie, Earywood, Sprite, Bumpskier, Fatherbumpskier. Can you guess who’s Snowsprite?

Continued in a moment. Others feel free to chime in with pics etc...

I suck @ this so help a brother out.

The Maggots with the chair - Cheers to Nils!

The chair on the deck. Perfect spot - looking uphill at the skiers & sun

    What a most excellent day!

    Continued..

    A little meat.

    The crew

Then the velvet ropes to the Abracadabra Lounge opened up.

Sorry to say no crazy stories to report. Everyone was pretty spent from the long day. Just a great weekend with great people. Beleive it or not groomers tire you out. Especially the Broomstick chinese downhill which gave me a few gray hairs.

Easter morning enjoying the new chair.

    FKNA.

I said this once in a TR somewhere in a more subtle way, but this seems like a more appropriate space.

At the time of Nils passing there was a lot of stoke talk about how he was going to be watching out for all of us Maggots and going to make it puke puke puke on us all winter. For me, all I can say is,

    Thanks Plake.

I'm trying to post this inbetween crying my eyes out. Tremblant has had the greatest winter ever. 243" of snow. We average 140" maybe. Thanks Nils

You still can. Make a trip up North and pay a visit to a memorial on Corona Bowl, in the Blackcomb backcountry (overlooking the Glacier).

We were glad to have the chance to acquaint Nils with the Pacific Northwest. Cheers, Nils. I'm raising a glass for you now.

I had an absolute blast Saturday, thanks guys. Days are always fun when a bunch of mags are about. Funny how some of the worst conditions can make for some of the most fun skiing, especially in a big pack in tight places.

Just wish I hadn't brain-farted and left the camera at home. Follow-cam footy of that chinese downhill would've been sweet.

BTW - the Abracadabra Lounge looks

I enjoyed sitting on the deck in the chair and looking out at the mountain...and knowing that I can always come here to sit and remember my friend Nils while taking in some of the beauty of this world.

Thanks to everyone, especially bluebird-bumpskier and nottermaster for all the efforts this weekend. I feel very lucky to know so many cool EC people to ski and play with!
