Pondering a pair of FRST120s for a do it all ski for Japan. For folks that are skinning with them how are you dealing with attaching skins w the swallow tail?

With Pomoca skins you can put the tail through and just cinch up the plastic piece through the swallow tail, so it’s not really “clipped” on. This has worked well for me on short tours with a Duke PT setup. I also intend to use this setup in Japan next year and think it will be pretty perfect!

I've got the a set of Jones Quick Tension Pomoca clips aside for my BC120s. Did not get the opportunity to mount them last season, but a quick check made them seem like a great fit.

Douche thy box!

But here my take on the skins...

(1) go for a skin with a rubber trail strap (BD G3 Pomoca), avoid non-stretch tail strap (Montana colltex, contour)
(2) the G3 twin tip clip works awesome and fits the Pomoca and BC no problem... but my favorite is to use the standard BD tail clip into the swallwtail. It works with the G3 no problem in the hole, and I just punched a hole in my pomocas for the BD clips. Its bomber, neve comes off, but super easy to release the skin at transition. The Jones QT clip is great on jones too, but harder to track down (at least last spring when I was looking)

Hmmmm.

No 192 left?

I'm off my personal hook....phew. Hopefully, like the old L120s people will ditch the longer lengths so I could pick some up ch33p.

Did you get a chance to fondle my (187cm) pair in the shop when you came through town? I may not have gotten them yet, but if you liked your c113s you'll love these.

Heritage Lab Swallowtails (R, FR, & BC)

I’ve tried a lot of skis (Gaijin don’t comment).

Ya HL skis cost more but I got more joy out of the 10 days I skied the FR 110 than any other ski I’ve been on in the last 10 years. They are that good.

I’m expecting the R120 Swallowtail to be the same.

Do it. Resistance is futile.

First pair of skis that I've paid retail for in years. I'm not planning to get rid of them anytime soon. I'd already have the FR 110, but they sold out before I got my shit together. Next were the FL105. Marshall talked me out of them (I think I miscomunicated my goals on that one). Anyway, probably won't be my last HL's. I'm debating the AM100 right now, also.

I'm a ski whore, but not nearly on your level.

I just ordered the 187 FR120ST as my first HL ski, I was leaning towards the FR110 and missed out on them while I thought about it.

I can't wait to get my hands on the FR. The rocker profile looks insane. I'm hoping it's the go-to, all things soft, resort ski!

Heritage Lab Swallowtails (R, FR, & BC)

Got an email from Marshal saying fall skis are shipping soon.

Can’t wait to see my new R120’s!

Recommended on the 180 R120 is -7.5cm (+/- 1cm). I’m prolly going -7cm. I’m thinking solid black STH16’s.

The black would look awesome. As a pivot whore myself I was thinking the sender colorway. However now thinking the blue steel would be an awesome contrast!

I have both raw 115mm Pivot 15’s and black 130mm STH 16’s in the garage……both would look good….

I’m leaning STH as that’s what I have on the FR110 and they feel f’ing perfect.

Wondering if it’s the diff in ramp angle on a short bsl of the STH vs Pivot 15?

I’ve been mounting my Pivot 15s without the 5mm toe shim? Which I’ve lost so I may check with the local shop for some?

Do your HL skis mounted with Pivot’s use the 5mm toe shim/spacer?

Not sure which shims you're thinking of but a 5mm toe shim on pivots would put you in a negative delta. I think it would feel pretty odd.
