Looks sweet smiley! How much do you weigh? I actually really like my bc120s for noodle pow, but I might be a bit heavier than you.

Heritage Lab Swallowtails (R, FR, & BC)

Into my third day cat skiing at Great Northern Snow Cat….and today they opened some new zones for the first time. It was deep.

Three ski shootout between a Renegade, Volkl Revolt and HL R-one twenty.

@marshal I appreciate the offer, though will not take you up on it yet. Coming through yet again with incredible customer service.

I’ll post more when I’m done drinking and skiing. Too good a time here with a cat crew of ten good skiers to take time to put my thoughts down.

Hint: I’m selling one of the three, and you may be surprised.

Of the two you're keeping, one of them will be for pure snow/storms/forests/cats (reverse) and the other will be the Volkl because camber/high alpine/chairs.

Which means you're selling the HL One Twenty because your FR One Ten and your One Twenty Two are a better match for your Volkl, when combined with the Ren for your needs between chairs and cats/side-country touring.

Do I win a chicken dinner?

I have the Rens and FR120's also. I'm holding both. Rens can be toured and FR120's are a better chop ski. It would be a really tough decision which to grab it I were hopping a cat or helicopter today.

Might be a crazy question but has anyone been on both the OG Spurs and the R120s and can compare the 2? They seem to have to have similar shapes and somewhat similar specs.

Yes, but it was so long ago I can't remember much. I do remember that I sold the Spurs as they weren't versatile enough to ski all day on a resort pow day. With the R120 I don't have that concern.

Huh, I've had no problems with that. Not versatile in what way? Spurs are great through chop for me and absolutely RIP groomers, especially for being so wide.

    Good analysis gaijin. Bang on.

Keeping the Revolts One Twenty Ones for inbounds at Whistler (they are really fun inbounds) and the HL is epic for deep pow and cat. Thought I wanted an FR120, but the R120 rips too.

Selling the Ren simply cause the FR One Twenty does what the Ren does,
but is better in deep chop.

SNAP! didn't see that one coming.......but it make sense. Strong endorsement for the R120. Looks like you got some extra dope turns in on them too.

KC, you have the HB122's also don't you? Can you compare them against the R120's and FR110's? You frequent a lot of my favorite resorts and I'm wondering how they feel in our denser snow.

In Revelstoke now, drinking hazy IPA’s, will post a comparison of the R One Twenty and HB One Twenty Two and Renegade and Revolt when I get back home.

This pic was earlier today at Great Northern Snow Cat. Epic four days of pow with good vis.

They also opened a bunch of new territory so we skied some very steep, very cliffy, deep tree runs. Like thigh deep.

No pics as we were skiing fast to the cat each run.

The R One Twentys were pretty awesome in the steep trees in deep pow. Carving pow turns and schmearing through pillows was effortless.

The HB’s would have been really good too. Wish I had brought them.

[delusion] So I was right, then. The Renegade hasn't been dethroned and I won't be day-dreaming of something better out there when I'm skiing it. [/delusion]

Stoked you had a rad and safe trip. Thanks for the science!

I can't really remember, it was like 8 years ago. I think it was in rubbery set up bumps they were just a bit too wide for me. I do remember them being good on smooth groomers though. Sorry I'm not much help.

    The r120's are awesome though.

No worries, thanks for your feedback. They look really fun so I'm trying to find a reason to convince myself to not buy the R120s. I have way too many powder skis already anywhoo. 6 is too many, right?

There is no such thing as too many powder skis. I’m at 6 myself. Rock powder skis, high alpine powder skis, tree powder skis, charger powder skis, jibby powder skis…I’m sure there a few I missed

    Ya…
HB, FR120, Jeffery 124, ASYM BG, SE, GT.

    They all have their spots.

Ok, how about another comparison. Mind sharing your thought between the FRs and the Asyms?

For the record, I have Asyms, Catamarans, KYE Numinous, OG Hellbents, OG Spurs, OG Protests. Trying to find an excuse to get either the R or FR120s

Really the FR is quicker to pivot and more playful but still has great chop eating ability due to it's weight. The BG as you know lets you really lay into the front while the FR is a bit better piloted from a centered stance. The R120 would be a great middle ground between the 2 mounted at -8. Both the R and FR are better on hardpack. I've never had huge issues on groomers with BGs but I dont turn much.
