Especially when you consider Push just released a fork for 2600… yes I know it’s for a specific group but you could buy 5 Fox 38’s for one Push, insanity

Personally I think they're the best mountain bike rack ever made. But don't use it in winter slop - they will rust.

    I currently have two of them, a 6 and a 4.

My NSR 6 has lasted since circa 2012 with minimal rust. Great rack. Only downside i have seen is a need for a hitch wobble reducer and tweaking the tines (perhaps incorrect word for the hangers) to fit dual crown forks and some modern geometry bikes. The tines with the stock rubber protection do mar the bikes up a slight amount.

For that style rack, I wouldn’t look at anything other than VelociRax. The shock that helps raise and lower the rack makes it at least fourtyleven times better.

Specialized 2fo shoes are on sale for $50. More durable than 510s with similar grip.

looks like NSR deal is off now...they're pretty simple, don't interfere with fenders, cheaper than most other alternatives but without the extras. And they're made in Canada so, that's a plus in my book. They certainly aren't perfect, but they are workhorses. I've been avoiding buying a rack for a while since the tailgate pad is working, but we keep talking about getting a canopy so would be good to have something at that point. May have just convinced myself to stick with NSR! haha

I've had the same one on the back of my Tahoe year round for at least the last 6 years, no significant rust issues yet. I don't fold mine, so I replaced the pins at the fold points with grade 8 hardware. I also use an anti wobble adapter at the hitch. I like the fact that there are minimal bits and pieces to bust or loosen.

North Shore Rack downsides: don't hold road bikes well, don't fit kid bikes, a little awkward loading /unloading, the 6-bike one is pretty heavy, and I have seen some pretty rusty ones.

NSR advantages: strong, durable, simple. Welded metal and hitch steel - the 6-bike one is made from thicker tubing than the 4. No moving parts really. All other vertical racks I've seen are assembled by bolting a ton of shit together, and using stuff like rubber straps to hold the bike in place. The NSR uses rope and a welded on boat cleat to compress the rear tire and hold it on - - if the rope gets old, easy to replace, nothing special there.

I definitely recommend using a U style anti rattle clamp. They're like $10 on Amazon.

Our nsr works fine with kids bikes. I think we might have gotten a little creative with sub 20" wheels though.

Cam and Voile straps are fair game.

At least no one recommended an Alta rack. I laugh out loud when I see those in the parking lot equipped with 15 ratchet straps to keep it from collapsing under its own weight or going trapezoid. "Yours for the low low price of $1500."

If you're looking for an alternate made-in-Canada solution, I picked a rack from River City Racks (Edmonton) last year, and have been super happy with it. Doesn't have the fancy-schmancy hydraulics like a the Velo-rax, but cheaper and super sturdy... took it on many road trips last year and no complaints.

I don't have too much experience with Gear Trade but this is potentially a screaming deal on some weight weenie XC wheels. XRC 1200 rims on 240s. No actual pictures of the wheels though...

Screaming deal, but “have seen their fair share of adventure” is a brilliant way of saying “possibly perfect for your NICA daughter”.

Those DT’s are pretty narrow at 25mm. But they are a great wheel set if you don’t plan on running too wide of a tire.
I have dealt with this model on bikes with a few high mileage clients, and I’ve never seen one out of true. I’d bet they are dead straight.

I zoomed in on the pic on my phone - sure looks like it's a pic of those wheels. There are a lot of scratches visible, so I don't think it's just a stock photo of new wheels.

I’ve had numerous similar pairs of Julbo photochromatic shades, and for me nothing else compares. I wear them all day everyday through summer working and riding, and eventually trash them, so am always looking for the next killer deal. My new red (0-3 HC) ones at CAN$79 (down from $305) just arrived in the mail, seem perfect, and are still available:

Specialized is blowing out a lot of their gloves and clothing. Just got a pair of demo pants for $40.
