I have been skiing dynafit beast boots for seven years. I am going to try on some Tecnica tour pros at a local shop. Thinking I want the pros and not the scouts. Both have the new design. Could be my ego talking. I will need to read up on ankle flexation. Never bought a full price piece of ski equipment ever.

$300 is getting up near zipfit prices, and 50% more than an intuition.

Yup, it better be damn good for that price. Though, if the performance is near zipfit with that low weight, the price could be justified. Zips are so damn heavy, I feel like a skimp racer when I use my intuitions.

It looks like a touring version of a Mach 1 liner, which I don't think is all that impressive personally. Certainly way better than the garbage liners that came in my Zero Gs (haven't seen the newest version yet), but definitely not as nice as Intuitions in my opinion.

$300 and still likely to pack out in 30 days. No thanks.

Hey everyone, thought I would jump in on some stuff as I work as a rep and sell Intuition, Tecnica, and Sidas. I worked for Lange for 16 years as well.
    Liner insights:

The old ZG liners (look for the yellow) were garbage. Very thin, packed out in two days etc. Very much a too light of a liner for how strong the ZG boot was. It solidified the perception that the ZG liners should be replaced.

For the past two seasons, the ZG liners have gotten heavier and stiffer, especially the tongues. They added the C.A.S. "j bars" around the heel pocket, which, in theory, holds the ankle better.

The new ZG liner (24/25) was designed around the new shell, and is, in my opinion, the best liner for that product for touring. It has even more CAS material in the ankle, thicker and denser foam around the forefoot, and a very stiff collar and most importantly, the tongue. The tongue is thick and very solid for driving this boot. It's the liner if you want lightweight for touring.

The MC (Mission Control) liner (picture above) is a new product for beefing up the new ZG. It's heavier and stiffer, think of it as a combo of the Cochise liner and the new ZG liner. My personal thought on why you would get this liner is: 1. For having 2nd liner for skiing the resort on a trip, and want to bring just ZG boots. 2. You don't care about weight and touring "feel", and just want a beefier liner. I have not tried it as we did not have samples last spring when we were getting the new ZG boot out in the field. I skied the stock new ZG liner and was very impressed. I will give the MC liner a shot this winter.

I sell intuition and Sidas as well, and I tried the following in the new ZG shell:

Intuition Tour Tongue DD 12mm: I did not feel my foot was as "locked in" and the tongue felt very thin and added a lot of feedback when driving the boot. I just felt too much movement in the liner and shell with this one. A little bit warmer though, especially in the toes. (I don't suffer from cold toes in boots etc).

Sidas CRT Slim: Noticeably stiffer than the intuition, but did not tour as well as the Tecnica. The collar and tongue combo in this is VERY stiff and thick and it impeded the range of motion. The Sidas CRT liner is full ultralon foam, which is what Intuition originally started with. Leather tongues which are nice, but get hot when touring etc. IMO, this liner is better suited as an alpine liner replacement.

The stock liners in our boots (including the NEW ZG, NOT the first generation) are some of the most impressive out there. They are well made, and very expensive. For example, the Mach 1 liners cost $220-275 for replacement, where most brands are $110-$120. I got 182 days in my stock Mach 1 liners and I have never gone more than 80 days in others. Give them a shot before thinking you need to replace immediately. Hope this helps, etc.

While I wait for the small Dynafit Ridges to make landfall in Canada, I had the chance to try on some ZGTP’s in a size down from my normal touring boot. (Putting me in the same shell size as my current performance fit alpine boot with a 10-12mm shell fit).

The length and width are tight. My toes definitely make contact with the front of the boot just walking around the store. I can also feel some pressure on the top of my foot (might need to spread the instep or drop the boot board too). With all this in mind, the ankle hold is impressive and the stride feels great.

I’m wondering - would I be crazy to try and make a boot like this work? How much space can I realistically expect to make everywhere else to maintain this ankle hold? It might be tough to find a fitter who would do the work for me.

This how mine fit, did you try them with the zipfit? Should shore up both the instep and toe room problem without much work.

This was with the dinky stock liners.

I would have thought that the GFTs would make the instep / hold even snugger. (Granted I also have a buttload of cork in mine)

I’m investigating some ridge alternatives after finding out some of our local shops might not be getting any until December..

Tecnica ZeroG Tour Pro 2024 touring boot

Just bot a pair of last year’s (2024) Zero G Pro Tours as the low price was just too good to pass up.

Gonna get some Zipfit GFT’s ($589CDN + tax)…. which kinda kills any savings. But worth it.

The zgtp stock liner feels very short for me, it goes away completely in a size up intuition or zipfit. I would definitely try the zipfits, it’s pretty annoying that touring boots are such a hit or miss if you want a performance fit. It becomes a expensive gamle and sometimes you just need to go for it.

If you end up wanting to use a instep spreader let me know, but it might be risky with the new merged double soft instep.

Would you take a guess on if the increased forward lean on the ZG will carry over to the Cochise line in the future?

And those Cochise Light DYN GW from a few years back (21/22?)....never seen anyone on them. Too light for a CAST-setup?

Are zips and intuition really that cheap in the US?

In Canada Intuition are $300 and Zips are $600 ($650 this year I think).

No changes to Cochise shell coming. Cochise is 13*, new ZG is 14*

We have not brought that model to the US market, so I have never checked it out.

Quickly tried on the new boot today, the liner felt very nice and plush, I’d like to buy it to use in other boots..

As for the shells, fit feels very similar to the old one, still on the shorter side in terms of length for toes which is a dealbreaker for me. Instep is still tight, which I like personally but is not good for some. It still walks like a 4 buckle overlap boot, so not great but the weight is incredible for what it is, especially considering the plush liner. There is no other boot that can touch its stiffness at a similar weight.

Finally got to try the new version on. Touring ROM definitely feels a bit smoother, and somehow feels a bit improved rearwards even though they said the change is only in the forwards direction. I took my Intuitions directly out of my well used 5 year old Zero Gs and put them in the new shells, and I swear the new shells are looser in the heel. I know they've said there was no change there, but hard for me to believe it after moving the liner back and forth a few times, definitely noticeable, to the point that they now probably wont work for me. Why is finding a low volume touring boot so freaking hard???

It's certainly not a low volume boot! Imo it's mid volume, a happy medium if one is put a positive gloss to it.

I did think the cuff pivoted relatively friction free fwiw

Does anyone have any insights into how the ZGTP fits compared to the Cochise? I've been touring in Maestrales 25.5's and skiing the resort in in Cochise 25.5's. The cochise is a little tight for touring for me, plus the weight and lack of ROM. Been eyeing the ZGTP to drive some bigger touring skis as the Maestrales aren't quite stiff enough...

I don’t necessarily think I’m in the norm here, but I have a tight (~8-10mm) shell fit in the 25.5 Cochise and opted for the 26.5 ZGTP (22/23 version). I thought the two boots fit about the same and wanted a more comfortable fit for touring.

Obviously it’s not the most performance fit, but even with the stock ZGTP liner, I get good enough performance and can lock down my heel, although it does require slightly over buckling for the descents.

Thinking about these for my next daily driver touring boot. I'm currently on the Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 130 (older dark green ones). Will they walk significantly better? I don't really love the ROM on the Hawx
