    Plattekill mini Dec.26 thread

Okay, I wanna know who's going. I probably won't be given medical clearance to ski by the 26th, but I plan on meeting you guys up for a beer or two.

Also, I'm still trying to convince my parents to allow use of the house for an apres party. I gre up about a 40 minute drive from the hill in the winter (20 in the summer), and need to know how many people would be interested in making the trip to the Plakespear family compound for a barbecue or something. Just need to work out the logistics of the whole thing.

Be wise to keep them away from the Crackhouse Spectacular thread.

Is this mini going to spill over to the 27th? I would love to be up on the 26th, but I have to &%^$% work.

Would be happy to meet up w/ anyone who's up on the 27th/partake in festivities if there are any. Keep me posted.

I'm in the same boat. How about making it a two-day thing, with the 27th at the soon-to-be-reopened Bobcat Mountain, the last word in no-frills skiing. One t-bar serving 1,050 vertical feet, and right around the corner from Plattekill.

Aw, but I have my heart set on Plattekill. Never heard of that other place, but I think we passed it.

Funny thing, but I am terrified of t-bars. I'll ride a chairlift 3,000 feet suspended over sharp boulders in gale force winds on a greased seat, but no way in hell I'm takin' a t-bar to the top of the bunny slope.

Just trying to provide a place that'll probably have about this many people there, even on a holiday weekend:

Highly unlikely I will be out by 26th. We get back to LA on the 20th and the movers come collect all the shiatt on the 23rd. I think we will take about 5-6 days to drive back.

jever notice it's always "back east" and "out west" never switched around?

Prove it to me about Bobcat.

Love to make it on the 26th Plakes, but I'll be on the way to Vt with the family.

How about Sunday, the wife and I are almost always there then. On another note, it's good to hear Bobcat might reopen. The place is even less crowded than Plattekill, real old school. As of now, Hunter has the most trails open, even one on the west side.

    Hey Plake, how you feelin?

IF Bobcat is open, I reccomend it. Makes MRG seem like A Les Otten enterprise. Thing is, there is no snowmaking at Bobcat, so it can be iffy to know if they'll be open or not.

I probably will have to work on the 27th, and I probably won't have medical clearance to ski anyway.

Also- looks like BBQ plans at the Plakespear Family compound are off. My mom probably can't deal with hosting a bunch of skibums the day after Xmas, but beers at the T-Bar (don't worry Sprite- it's an actual bar, not a ski lift) sound like a plan.

Vinman- posting directions to the T-Bar is your mission- you represent the Orange and Black (and formerly the darkest gym in the Delaware League)

Feeling good- visit the Oncologist tomorrow AM.

    Mission accepted and complete.

The T-Bar is on route 30 about 5-6 miles south of Roxbury. *leaving from P-kill you will be on Lower Meeker Hollow(LMH) Rd. *Follow this down to the intersection of LMH and Cold Spring rd.
*Take a right on Cold Spring Rd. Follow this rd until it ends
    * Take a left onto Rt 30
    * drive about 200 yds up the hill and make a right into the T-bar parking lot.

Total drive time about 10 minutes (depending on weather, traffic and number of cows in the road)

For anyone who hasn't been there, besides the great slopes Plattekill has a great bar upstairs.
Facking pouring outside now, so much for all that snow that dropped on the weekend.

I know we must have discussed this some other time but what school did you go to again and when. We might have done some battle.

Van is one of my dad's best freinds. As a matter of fact, when he broke his old skis a few seasons ago, I gave him my old skis to use. PM me your real ID and I'll say hi to him. I'll see him this weekend, I'm sure.

I will be there if the doctor is able to do something about the serious foot and knee pain I'm having. Either the 26th or 27th works for me.
