Breaking News: JetBlue plane making emergency landing

On TV now they're showing a JetBlue plane flying above LAX. The nose wheel is turned 90 degrees and stuck.

They had to dump a bunch of fuel in the ocean.

    "drrrrahmaaa!!!"

my call - it will either shear off the torque link (which connects the nosewheel strut to the nosewheel steering actuators), and allow the wheels to go back to center, or it will shear out the nosewheel steering actuators.

worst case - tires/wheels are torn off. I think the A320 nose landing gear retracts forward, not aft, so I don't think it will collapse.

but I'll watch it live here on fox news

meh, it shouldn't be that bad. I highly doubt many people will be hurt, if at all. Probably going to result in one fucked up jet that some poor schmuck is going to have to figure out how to fix.

I was just working-out at the bluffs (which are over PCH, near the Santa Monica Pier, nearish LAX) and ran into a friend - we kept saying "what on earth is going on, with all the sirens and helicopters??!?!?" Now I know.

Those poor passengers, oh my god, can you imagine how you'd feel if you were inside that plane? oh man.

Yeah, do you think anyone was watching the plane land on the satellite tv they have? ... do you think they left the tv's on? ...my friend and I agreed that a little porn would calm the nerves.

That model couldn't dump the fuel--it had to be burned off. Good job cap'n.

THat was one hell of a landing pretty tough plane too. On a similar note one of my friends cousin flipped his plane a bit ago and flipped it back over with a come a long then duct taped the wing back together to get back to civilization
Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care

Oh yeah? Well, my brothers friend aunts nephew had a cousin who made a nuclear bomb out of a rubber band and a thimble. He made it out of the airport successfully.

Glad that everyone is safe, the pilot did quite a good job. As I was sitting on the 405 tonight I saw the plane circling and then about 30 firetrucks pass me, my first response was to get out of there, but the lovely traffic held tight and I had a front row view of the landing.

    here's a worse day:

all pilot error, too. Sucky. Nobody hurt here either, which was a lucky thing when you consider there was a full cargo load inside at the time.

Better Fire & Rescue at LAX, I guess, since JetBlue flies into Long Beach... Hopefully this will not change now, since that's pretty much my favorite airport ever, and we're in there at least 2x a year flying JetBlue from Dulles.

    Glad everyone's OK.

It'd help if the idiot didn't have his rudder pointing right for the dirt.
