I think I found a song that best describes the HB122

I'm definitely biased here, but the new topsheet is pretty friggin' dope.

Marshal - you have absolutely nailed the HB122. Just spend three days skiing them in Jackson Hole, two days in the side/backcountry. Absolutely EPIC in the powder. Super playful and fun just like I remember the hellbents, except didn’t have any of the chatter at high speeds. I LOVE these skis!!!! THANK YOU.
So gratifying to recieve texts like this after a long few months grinding. Fired up! Thanks for all of the stoke, everyone.

Anybody in the HB cult formerly a Protest owner? I have some 192 flex 4 protests with veneer that have been my deep day ski, but the last few times I've been out on deep days I've been looking for a more balanced, forward stance from that ski. I'm mounted back a few cm iirc, but still feel the need to adopt a rearward bias in the really deep and I'd rather not. Am I in the right place or should I just size up on the Protest?

Did the flex pattern in the shovels change for the v2 version? Paul Forward of Blister seemed pretty damned stoked on the tails of the v1 version, but not the shovels. He hinted that something was in the works for HL based on input from him (in a Gear30 episode) - is the HB v2 version if? Or is there yet another pow killer coming?

Are you at Alyeska by any chance? I think I met your friend with the R120 and blue pivots on the lift.

That was the perfect day for both of those skis!!!

Hi Kid- There is a tech email on the HB122v2 coming in the next few days that details every small tweak in the ski, as I am formally adopting the shape and giving it the full HL spin, while still keeping true to its roots.

Separately, Paul and I have been talking about the ultimate AK heli guide ski ski, which is basically a +15mm HB122 optimized for super strong skiers in huge terrain carrying 40+lb packs. I look forward to having fewer balls in the air to execute on that, but it is on the pause at this exact moment.

I have exactly NO use for this ski but, strangely, I want it really bad. Already saving up my ducats for the pre-order.........until the next shiny object comes along that I want even more!

Yes, the last 4 days of fresh were so fun !
The HB122 is so versatile and there for you, it feels like it has a gyroscopic effect keeping you balanced.
That R120ST is a Destroyer!, like a quicker and meaner Bodacious, without that planky tip feel.

    Red face

@Kid-Kapow -- still don't really know where/why/how you read that Paul wasn't stoked on the ski!?!?!?!

what the fuck is going on with this forum and its app - it is all gone to hell tonight. At MO - I never stated that he did not like the ski - the term he used to describe their tails was magical - but that the tips are a bit too soft for him ( I flex them into a wall). He talked about it here https://blisterreview.com/podcasts/g...be-next-ep-320 at minute 53.

Yo man; I’m with you - can’t edit post and can’t add attachments! Have been trying to clean my comment up all day, as it didn’t read the way I intended! Sorry for that. Hands tied!

I’ll listen to the podcast at the time you mention. I am just confused; as he and I talk all the time and never heard anything but super positive about them, all he has said is for the Ak guide ski, the tips need to be a little stiffer.

    @kid-kapow

Teaser of the hb122 coming on thursday is

    1) UHMW sidewalls
    2) smoothed rocker profile, where there was 2 subtle kinks in the forebody and tip, there is now a single curve
    3) increased tapers tip/tail tail to help in grabby snow, wide points tip/tail result as ~3mm narrower
    4) shifted flex pattern and sidecut slightly to balance the ski out slightly

Can't really say if that would fully capture what Paul is speaking about in that. But the forebody will be a little more supportive as a result of these tweaks.

Sorry for not fully picking up what you were putting down.
