In Sasaki news, it’s down to the Jays (lol) and the southern california team.

if the dodgers get him it’s whatever, they’ll have a bunch of very good pitchers that won’t throw 140 innings.

but the rules are weird, this guy will be tethered to them for five years for very little. why wouldn’t he sit out the next two years and take a 300M deal like Yamamoto did? it seems like these guys should go into the draft or be free agents based on professional service time, not necessarily age. but i also think he has more reasons to complain than me, but it’s an odd thing as a fan, like why wouldn’t the white sox or rockies get a chance at not sucking?

International free agency is weird. It would also be weird if a guy jumped 2 years early and missed out on a $300 million payday to play for the Blue Jays. I can’t see the upside for him, but Shohei chose Anaheim so ego knows. Toronto did go out today and get an extra $2 million in international money, so they can currently give him about 3 million more than the Dodgers can. Hopefully he makes the right decision though and comes to LA. But at least it seems like the Padres are fully out now.
