My kids are way past it, but there’s a kid bike brand, Guardian Bikes that tout this kind of technology as safe for kids.
Only other place I’ve heard of it is for bikes for those w a disability. Used to be a guy who did some xc racing who had a prosthetic hand and ran some kind of system like this. Though pretty sure it was a cable junction/split before being run independently to each end.

Those brake arms on the blue frame look like a set of brakes i have branded as tektro, they came with individual brake levers on juniors mtn bike 25 yrs ago, which became my touring/ gravel bike. Everything on the TIG welded Kona frame has been replaced except those brakes cuz they still work good enough ( stopped a loaded touring bike on 5 of 6 TDF descents ) for what they need to do but at a minimum I would just thro that connecting shit away, change the pads and use individual hand levers but you probably won't find a matching lever so you will be changing both levers.
SO probably find new brakes

That's awesome/insane. "Let's create a custom solution that doesn't work as well as what people have been testing for decades and offers less redundancy!"
Rode with my neighbor tonight and he ran into an old friend and the friend said, "good see us all on Amish bikes". Hadn't heard that one yet. Neither are anti-eebs, but it has to get thrown out there. Interesting times...always mentioned...some despise and others just don't ride one (yet), so indifferent.
Dorking out on bike tech was a lot more fun when half the products on the market were legitimately terrible. Now that everything is fairly decent, it's pretty boring.

Rode around a little bit on my buddy's Slingshot BITD, like '94. Can confirm it rode about like all the other bikes at the time.
Was wild riding behind him though, watching the BB swing side to side while he pedaled.

Somehow I did the following, but did not bend or break the derailleur hanger. Most surprising is the bend pivot pin and cracked parallelogram at the cable pinch bolt mount.
I was hoping I could replace a few pieces, but I think it’s too far gone. Shame since it only has about 25 miles on it.

First Trailforks review: One star - "This is a moto primary trail. For MTB it is fun if you like hundreds of blown out sandy moto ruts"
Second review: Five stars - "An E-Biker perspective: Ride this trail, it's a must for us E-bikers. This 20 mile descent is a must do on E-bike. "
lol
Highly amusing bikes here. LOTS of Easter eggs in the pictures for us keen eyed bike folks.
This is not a joke, the guy has a for real FB profile. If it’s a troll, it’s some of the most elaborate trolling I’ve ever seen.

I see clips of what the BMX guys are doing. And I see clips of what the Moto guys are doing, and I wonder why slope style has any traction. Props to the bros for doing what I could never do in a million years, but they look like the retarded middle child when compared with big and little brothers.
