This. Aspen's stake also sits under that building at the top which blows snow down onto the stake.

Skied ajax this am. Definitely 6" of cold smoke up there on top of frozen bumps and rocks. yay snow.

I’m all for it; loving the upside!

Skico ops vs marketing snow shenanigans are always a bit funny

Snow for most of the next 10-15 days should set us up pretty well. Looks like an uncommon January we’re heading into!

It skied really deep up high on Ajax. Just gotta watch out for the VWs underneath.

Some funny snow here and there but a few good turns still. We’ll see what this wind does

THE Aspen/Snowmass / Greater Roaring Fork Valley 23-24 Thread

Friday was my first really hard charging day with Hanle on Ajax.
Swing to Norway and then down Henry’s steep, flat, chalkiness.

I got out early this morning and ripped the groomers with the wind drift. But bailed as soon as it got congested, from the upper lifts being closed.

Took Rocky, my 20 month old Vizsla for the last skin of Campground, before they open. Best dog ever, not a mean bone in his body.

It was glorious until I got back up to the Ditch Trail.

As soon as I gained the trail, two dogs ran up. In 35 years of dog ownership, I’ve never had a dog just run up and attack. But it did today.

He’s OK, but a $500 vet bill later, he’s plastered to me, watching football.

I would just like to say….the Aspen app needs a more dynamic trail status function that shows the last time a trail was open.

It is so annoying in the evening how it shows everything as closed

Tiehack was pretty money today. Groomers and bumps were both great. I’ll likely end up on highlands for the morning tomorrow

Tiehack was indeed pretty nice, but packed with the races. I bailed on Highlands and went out for a skin. Probably headed to Ajax tomorrow

Highlands wasn’t busy until 10:45 or so, then the masses showed up. Not sure what time the bowl opened, should be good again tomorrow. Older one is on Snowmass so I’ll probably take a few runs up there in the am

I have a 9:30 meeting. Looking like they finally opened Campground, so I’ll be parking at the Divide about 10.

The last pitch is still a little thin.

I snuck in a late bowl lap yesterday, probably started skiing a little after 2:00 and it had been open at least an hour by that point judging by the tracks. Still excellent though.

Also followed my buddy into Lower Stein at the end of the day against my better judgement... goodbye sidewall.

It opened around 11:15. Dense snow on Ajax. Deep enough up top and windbuff around mid mountain.

Highlands was killer today. Deep in DT and the wind and snow kept filling it back in like every run. Some cross loaded spots were bottomless

Bowl will be insane tomorrow whenever they get it open. Seemed like a struggle up there today for patrol

That sucks. Let me know if you need a beater stick to ride for a bit. Hopefully you were planning on replacing the skis anyhow!

Thanks buddy. I've got several old beaters in the crawl space and one pair in plastic that I was waiting for an excuse to mount!!

    Cool cool.

I bought some Bent 100s and Bent 110s (last years top sheet) this summer. The 100s made it through the skinny start to the season with just some scratches.

Took the 110s for the first time this past weekend…luckily avoided the temptation to get too crazy.

The 100s are fun and good, but the 110s are EXCELLENT and fit how I ski better.

Hope you have something fun in the plastic!

I’m curious to try the 110s. Strongly disliked the 100s and I tend to be happy on most skis so I was kinda thrown off
