I skied Zaugg first thing yesterday too. I was on the 2nd or 3rd chair up Ruthie's, they let us on 1A early but the top liftie at Ruthie's showed up late so they couldn't load until right before 9am. Maybe your wife beat us there if she took the gondy but I didn't cross a track... second run down Perry's was somehow even better.

We are starting all over again with the 2 y/o so hit up Elk Camp in the afternoon. My back hurts.

I think her version of “first” is not quite first, but just pretty untracked. She was on 1A at 8:50 and went straight there, so probably just after you. She skied Last Dollar later and was psyched on that too, even at 10am

Skied Sunlight for the first time ever, what a great ski area. Couldn't believe how good the terrain was, great tree skiing, cut runs with good pitch and the east ridge is full on mini CB. Didn't hurt that they got 20ish inches over the weekend and my kid was ski racing so she was busy with the team all weekend and I got to ski. Hilarious to hear the locals complaining of a 3 minute lift line on a 10 inch Sat and Sun. Will be back!

Doesn’t Sunlight have an approved expansion in the works?

I used to do business with a wealthy Mexican industrialist, that owned it in the 80’s.
Said he never lost more money.

I think it's for some new lifts, one up the east ridge so you don't need two lift rides to lap it, which will be really nice. My first job was tuning skis in their shop. Really miss that place and need to go back next time I'm in the RFV.

Not to tamp down the Sunlight stoke, but GR, so sorry for the little guy and I know some crazy shit goes through your head in that moment watching them down and in pain.

Hope he heals fast. I took a handful of runs on Sunday with the boys, including some great DT action. Felt like everytime we stopped one of them said they wished he was there…was on all the boys minds all day as far as I could tell.

They still had fun and proud of them for not skiing scared…but they seemed a little off without him.

Is it time to change the thread photo to something that looks like February 2024?

Had a nice day at Snowmass skiing with One(+)Sentence. ZO’s a good skier, good guy. He’s got a family with two kids and they’ll be a nice addition to the valley. Hit him up for a kids ski day!

Today is Hump Day, 1/2 way thru the ski season. The annual party is après-ski at Mezzaluna. Lifties and Patrol drink and eat for free.
Stop in a buy your favorite liftie a drink!

I’ll be the guy in the Norway hat.

I didn't drive up today or I would join.

I am sitting a bit higher than avg for me at hump day this year, but even if I pushed it I wouldn't get a pin.

Thanks for the kind words, Shred. Looking forward to making more turns with you and anyone else.

Kind of a sleeper 2" morning on Ajax hoy. Empty and making fresh turns after 11:30am, which was unheard of before the expansion.

    Things are filling in nicely.

    Snowmass skied really well today!

Tickets for JAS June Experience went on sale today. Small venues,
great acts. $75/day is a bargain.

IMHO, this is way better than fighting the crowd at Labor Day.

Did they announce the acts already? Foo Fighters played last year, sure you aren't looking at the old lineup?

Thanks man, I'll try to catch up with the boys when I can to do their race drill day before the end of the year. Obviously a bit more tethered to the mid valley right now.

It was great getting B to camp and school pick up to see the crew and get some friends to sign his cast.

We got past that first rush of I can do stuff still with crutches to being frustrated, I'm sure we have a half dozen more of these modulations.

Bowl was indeed legit, I went up for a lap at 1:30. B’s were good; G2 was great. Chopped up but soft on top. DT had great pockets and Powder bowl actually skied really soft.

Edit: [I was totally wrong; trees are still there on the Wall]

Apparently it’s going to be a little longer than they thought. They have to manufacture the part.

Thank god they didn’t take out Bell.
It will actually be pretty nice riding Bell, the next couple of weeks.

But it will really suck when they take out 1A for 2, maybe 3 years, to build the Aman. Hopefully it doesn’t happen, till I take a dirt nap.
