Maybe once every ten years for me, but October is a ski month
Plattekill’s glade day is October 27, in case anyone is interested. I’m out of town unfortunately

The beast double dip for spring could be a nice change, and an acceptable price for a new SS lift.
Magic volunteer day #2 Saturday Oct 5th. Peak foliage. Added bonus: view the new towers on LMC (and maybe ShowOff too by then).
Maybe this has been posted...
Seems like a good thing.

Not a bad thing, but still a very hard road for a South facing mountain with aged infrastructure. Mad River Glen and Shames Mountain are the only two coops I am aware of. Sure there are some small ones too. Not easy to run a mountain with many chiefs and not much money.
I hope it works for Black. Could be cool.
But I interpret this as... Entenebi has the investment in the scanning system. Better to just buy it than lose out on that.
Runs numbers after a season and sees that this really can't work and no one is going to buy this.
Offer as a co-op? sure!
My Monday morning quarterback view of small New England ski resorts like Black... I would try to make a summer/fall destination. In the winter try to keep it low-key. But I have no idea what I am talking about.
My only times at black were for friday night lights and wild corn shindig. Both super fun!
I <heart> hot tele-moms
^yeah, idk financials on a Loon or others that put in bike parks, but that could be a summer option for Black.
I like Black Mountain for its character. Last year I skied a weekday there and I was one of maybe a dozen people. Somehow King Pine, a diminutive hill, does not appear to be struggling.

Magic tried that when they were in dire straits and fell into very dire straits. Costs more to pay people to run the summer options than you bring in. Liability was a big issue as well. Especially tough with Bromley and Stratton just a few miles down the road and having a 40+ year head start (I rode the Bromley Alpine Slide in 1977...). Don't know if any other places around BMONH have summer activities but that would make it very difficult to break into that market. High up-front costs and long ROI (if ever).
I believe Entabeni makes their money on ongoing revenue, but beyond that, the guy who runs it is truly passionate about independent skiing. Whether or not he can overcome the geographical and infrastructure challenges at Black, I don't know, but I wouldn't bet against it.
Bridger Bowl is also a co-op; there are more out there, but I can't recall which ones at the moment.

Bridger as I understand it is not a coop, but a nonprofit. Castle Mountain in Alberta is another coop
Stoked. Hiked a little the other day, time to get ready for uphill season.![]()
Fast grass at Saddleback down to the base lodge this morning
Sounds like Jay is getting skied
