Just about every ski resort in western Canada is going to be closed or limited to lower mountain lifts for Fri & Sat....just when most resorts finally have enough snow to open 80-90% of the terrain.

They were saying yesterday was a new record.. Not enough renewable energy, 2 natural gas generators were also down.

200 000 new people to Alberta this year...not surprised

The best part of it all is watching the conservatives blow up on twitter and bitch their tits off about the premier they elected.

I thought that the best part is knowing that Trudeau's dream of replacing ICE vehicles with EVs is just that, a dream. The electric grid and electric power production is not up to the task.

^^^ I regret posting if this conversation is going political.

I'm just glad my power didn't go out.

Well lots of people have that dream and power shortages like this one will force policy makers take off the rose coloured glasses and listen to the grid operators on how much spending /investment is required not to have brownouts.

Yah and it's a worldwide issue. There's little money, little desire for the Capex and a lot of green dreams thoughts and prayers for clean tech without forethought to plan for interim O/G steps. FortisBC just had their natgas pipeline extension to the Okanagan denied by the regulator on the basis that the province should be converting to renewables.

That sentiment isn't going to help people in the Vernon, Lumby area much during winter.

Relevance - Posted here cos Albertans like the central OK too!

Anyone skiing this Friday and interested in playing tour guide for a few laps? It’ll be my first time in the area, skiing solo on Friday either at SSV or Lake Louise.

I'm going somewhere this weekend, just trying to decide where.

Was at Panorama Sunday. Coverage OK, had to watch for nubbins and other solid hazards if skied trees off Summit. Most fun were long groomers like Schober's Dream, top to bottom.

At Fernie Monday, reported 21 cm new but was only fresh on top third of mountain, sticky in the middle, slush at bottom. Rained in town Monday night, still warm here. Coverage excellent, but conditions are, as they say, "variable."
