Rad. I have always wanted an independent fab frame but more so as speedier commuter. Always admired their frame designs.

    Yuck.
But yes, there are some I still irrationally lust after, and would bring home if found at a yard sale for ~$100.00 or so.
I had a better downhill rig in the 70s. I rode one of these to dust between 75 and 80. This one's in my shed now..

The geometry of those old bikes was downright dangerous. Luckily we didn't know any better.

Totally! Took a Klein Attitude to Downieville my first time there and came back to work on Monday looking like I’d been at Fight Club all weekend.

My 1st (and maybe 2nd as well?) trip to Moab was on a full rigid Giant ATX-760. Rode Slickrock, Porc Rim, Amasa Back, etc. - no idea how I didn't die.

A heady cocktail of ignorance, stupidity, and persistence!
My first ride down Porc was on a 1986 Univega Alpina, (in 1988, probably) and then a few years later on a '92 Klein Adroit. I think the first one had a better ride quality, TBH.

It was ok because we didn't wear helmets either. Or at least I didn't. I still have this Diamond Back Curaca, my first MTB.
