    WTB: AXS shifter + derailleur

If someone just upgraded to transmission and has some lightly used AXS to unload I'll buy it. Gonna make a Sramano drivetrain.

Or should I just spend the extra money and buy GX Transmission full setup?

I grabbed a new gx axs derailleur takeoff from worldwide cyclery (via pinkbike) for $270. After a fair bit of searching this seemed like a solid price from a legitimate seller. Less margin to save on shifters and batteries, so I grabbed whatever shipped fastest. Sramano setup was easy, though I still don’t think my b gap is perfectly dialed. Lmk if/when you get this running and I’d be keen to compare notes

OK cool. Will this setup work? I'm so out of the loop on all sram/wireless shit.

yes, but just spend another $40 and get a warranty. Google GX AXS Upgrade kit. It doesn't help you know but I bet they go on sale in the $400 range this winter though....

I remember seeing a youtube video of some Italian? French? guy setting up SRAMano and he talked about which chain measuring method he used , but I can't recall which. He also talked about how to measure the b-gap in mm and how to optimize the micro-adjust.

fwiw my sramano b-gap is pretty far from the recommended 40-41mm in that video (in stand and at sag) but shifting quite well. Same chain length. Fair bit of micro adjustment. I think there’s a pretty big acceptable b-gap range, despite what the precise nature of the sram tools would suggest. But I’m also a hack. Lmk where you end up with b-gap and micro adjust

Ok cool. I'm right at 41 and I think I need to go up/bigger maybe. Micro adjust is tough but I think it's good for now. Already shifts really good. Real world trail test will have to wait until this rain passes.

Literally on the trail now in sedona waiting for the GF. Middle of the cassette is clunky shifting. Should I go more or less B screw?

Without any context, my guess would be more. If it was shifting well before and isn't now, then odds are it backed out (not advanced itself).

OK I tried more and it was worse. I went back to where I started and then half a turn less and it improved slightly. Still shifting better than my XT was.

Better than XT sounds like a good baseline. Where did you land with microadjustment?

Ok so I rode today for 10 miles and at the start of the ride I looked up how to micro shift again. I guess the video I watched a couple weeks ago had wrong or older instructions so I wasn't ever doing any microshifts. Fiddled with it today and got it working much better. I still think I could get the b screw a bit better too. It's not "perfect" but it's way better than the XT simply because of the cable just never moving smoothly with this frame.

I'm not sure but a new one at worldwide is 568 and I think 15% off so 482.
Maybe I should just replace my cable and housing

My [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]]month update with shramano xt axs — set things up once and haven’t needed to touch it since. Very happy, zero faff. I also appreciate the bonus feature of packing my derailleur in the carryon when I fly with the bike.

    ^^^

I'm not opposed to cables and maybe the new SRAM transmission with cable is great. My issue stemmed from loving the way XT shifts and can shift well under power, but any complicated internal routing makes the cable not glide *just right* and therefore shift like ass. I went through three sets of cables and housings in like 3 months. Fuck that. Could have just been my bike though?
