    Official Unofficial Vegas Bar Compendium

I’ll nuke this asap if we have one of these already but I can’t find it with our ratshit search engine. We have 100 bar threads but Vegas has a thousand bars and needs it’s own space.

Unfortunately I find myself in Vegas 3 or so times a year. I do the shit I need to do for work and then I disappear into the bowels of the city. I’ve used this as my Bible with interesting results:

    https://www.vice.com/en/article/4axd...s-in-las-vegas

I’m heading back and want to find a bar that I found when lost. The night was thin shreds in the space time vortex stitched together with fernet, stardust and a will to survive.

    What I recall:
    - off strip (no other idea of direction)
    - almost like being transformed back to 50s Palm Springs but definitely not a tiki bar. Rattan was prominent though.
    - turquoise burned into my subconscious.

That’s it. All my brain has access to. Could be 20 spots but wondering if anyone has ideas.

I love a good turquoise bar.

Hope you find it and can enjoy a Tom Collins or a Harvey Wallbanger there when you do.

I suppose if the universe wants us to meet again, we shall. I’m thinking of pulling a Beerfest and recreating what I recall right up to that point.

I haven't read that article before but he goes to some good ones. I'll read it all tonight.

I really like the Silver Stamp, all locals with a midwestern vibe. The Double Down Saloon feels as sketchy as the author mentions, but i'll be back, just not at 2am, I got some shank-y vibes from the place. A dispensary is attached to the building, which is nice when you live in Utah and need to restock.

Dino's was closed when we went there and I ran out of time to go to the Hard Hat. Velveteen Rabbit was for cool girls to talk all night with expensive mixed drinks, nearby on Main I liked Daveys and Atomic Style Lounge, not to be confused with Atomic Bar in old Downtown (which is also great). Brides Of March was happening while we were on Main street drinking, which is a bunch of dudes in wedding dresses, all were at Daveys when we were and was very Vegas. There also was a ton of young roller skaters around for a contest at Fresa's Roller Skate Shop.

I'm a big fan of Main street / Arts District in Vegas now. Tons of new bars and restaurants without the strip crowd, and a few blocks away you can find old seedy bars. What more could you ask for?

For someone who lives in the metro, I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to the bar scene. One place I do like, though, is Square Bar in the Commercial Center Plaza. Commercial Center is a bit sketchy, houses my favorite Vegas bookstore (Avantpop), a number of restaurants, several storefront churches, the notorious Green Door swingers club, and some other things. It's a fun place in sketchy, older vegas style. I wouldn't call Square Bar a dive - I've been in some crappy bars - but it has always had a good vibe when I've been there and tends to host a lot of burlesque nights and the like.

Not sure if you’d call it a dive, but Atomic Liquors has very much that old Vegas vibe

Or maybe you were at The Peppermill

Good calls but not Atomic. Was much too lucid when there and recall it well. And it was seedier than the Peppermill, which I also recall.

You sure it wasn’t actual tiki? Frankie’s and Golden are two favorites of mine, both off-strip…

Peyote has turquoise tables and Palm Springs decor. Not sure about Rattan there. Walking distance from the Atomic Lounge you went to Shirk.

Peyote is such a good call and as close as anyone has been but I still don’t think so. Not Stage Door either.

Maybe I entered some otherworldly realm like Barbieland after my 6^3 drink and this place only exists in between misfired neurons in my brain?

I had one of the best nights of my life inside the Planet Hollywood at a bar that absolutely doesn’t exist.
