    2005 Tour de Front Range

was completed by myself and 5 others. 16 people showed up at the White Ranch parking lot Saturday morning at 8:00 am, roughly 9 hours later the remaining group of 6 had just ridden some 60 plus miles and climbed over 8000 feet. That was definitely the biggest mtn bike ride I have done. I now have a new personnel definition for "epic" rides...25-30 milers seem down right cute.

ouch. thanks for the description, i had missed earlier thread. an honest assessment of my odds at this ride would have me bailing out right around green mountain...and that is assuming that i would ride my fat ass heckler...might make it a little farther on a hardtail or more XC oriented full suspension ride, but i doubt it. good on ya, you and your friends should be beasts for ski season.

edit: actually, i have to know: did you start at the lower or upper white ranch lot...if lower than i'd be fucked by the time i got to red rocks...i hate that climb with a vengence.

wow, congrats thats a huge ride. I'd be rocking the wheelchair with the integrated ice pack seat after a ride like that.

Sick ride, there is something wrong with you to voluntarily subject yourself to such a suffer fest

We started at the White Ranch lower lot and rode up Belcher all the way to the top. From there we took the Mustang trail loop back to where we started. I was feeling pretty damn good until we had lunch at Matt winters, after that my stomach was in knots. later on when we had climbed up to the parking lot at Mt.Falcon it seemed almost surreal to think we were actually going to start another ride. On the last section of trail at Lair O the Bear there was this Aussie guy we caught so he took this as a challenge and joined our pack. After we all got back down near the creek section he was doing a little communal "nice pace...good ride" thing until we told him what we were just finishing...

Saturday night I was crushed. I didn't even feel like a congratulatory beer and yes I had a nice case of baboon ass. Sunday though I felt pretty good, I didn't ride but I could have got back on the bike if the opportunity had come up. I'm hitting Deer Crk tonight if anyone is interested.

Lurch it just means i'll have one extra hike in me for Berthoud this winter.
