Looking for lightweight 450 lb/in spring

Turns out my box of springs doesn’t include a lightweight (Ti or Fox orange) spring that fits my new 210x55 mm Jade X.

Current DVO steel spring on there weighs 320 g. A lot of Ti springs are junk but I do have ones in the 200ish gram range …they just don’t fit (the DVO spring carrier is about a mm bigger than a fox).

Hmm maybe the solution here is to retrofit a different upper carrier if the body diam is same as other shocks in the drawer.

    All ideas / links welcomed.

SAR springs are 38mm ID like RockShox & EXT. Very lightweight. You can pair them with a POM adapter to fit narrower shocks (Fox, Ohlins, DVO, Cane Creek).

EXT springs are lightish. Not like Ti but they advertise them as their own proprietary lightweight alloy. I can tell you that my 55mm stroke spring (also for a 210 eye to eye) comes in at 266g on my kitchen scale. Don't know how much they cost retail but they come in 25lb increments which can be handy. As mentioned, 38mm ID and the more muted color also looks good IMO.

Yeah the EXT and SAR springs are both made by Eibach. IIRC, EXT ones are about $135/each now.

I recently picked up a 550 SL spring from MRP for a 21 RS Super Deluxe. They offer cerakote colors as well. Requires an adapter fyi.

Unfortunately the SAR spring is heavier (40 g) than the comparable stock steel spring that came with my DVO. I got the info directly from SAR.

I was going to look into EXT springs anyway.

Meanwhile pinkbike has a seller who forgot to list the stroke. Lol.

I went down this path too, and settled on the FOX SLS. There may be other springs that are slightly lighter, but these are very competitive weights and readily available.

Check this thread. I love shit like this with actual data: https://www.mtbr.com/threads/fox-sls...eight.1181746/

I forgot to mention I have some fox SLS springs but they don’t quite fit the DVO carrier. But yeah 3 yrs ago I looked into this topic and just settled on the SLS. My SLS 425 lb x 2.75 stroke weighs 309 g.

Really? Im using one in my DVO Jade X right now. Unless im missing something, it seems to be fitting fine.

Mfg tolerances vary with springs. The ID of this particular SLS is just a bit too small for the carrier. I’m sure if I bought 3 SLS springs one would fit the DVO carrier. But apparently a 2.4” 450 lb SLS would save me a whopping 30 g or so over the $80 DVO stock spring, so not worth the effort.

    Glad yours fits.
