Schlitz has the second highest consonant-to-vowel ratio of any beer in the world. Tied with Grolsch.

On top of that Anchor's brewhouse is all copper which holds even more value.

    Just FYI
Hope they leave it for the junkies

To continue the divergence into Schlitz beer evidently it also tastes after 50 years of freezing up every winter. The FB image is from a guy that does guided trips in the Brooks Range.Attachment 465607

Ha! I also saw this and had a good chuckle. It's not like Schlitz can get any worse. Only place left to go is up.

Met a guy in the parking lot of the ski area a few years ago who is a member of the Hamm's fan club. They have a newsletter and everything. He gave us some souvenirs. He was clearly very into it.
Lately it has been showing up on the shelves of the local liquor store with a retro can. Been drinking quite a bit of it. Great day drinking beer.

Hamm’s is by far my favorite cheap domestic canned beer and it’s not even close. The aluminum shortage from the pandemic has led to it being less available than pre pandemic when a case was less than $14 in Utah.

Some people insist that it is the exact same beer as Pabst. They just put it in whatever can is available at the time. I like both. Hamms has some cool schwag on their website.

The Hamm’s / Pabst connection is confusing.
They were once owned by the same company, but now they are not…yet Pabst is contract brewed by the company that now owns Hamm’s.

Several years ago I picked up a 12er of Hamm’s, threw it in a cooler and went for some sweet spring skiing at Alpine Meadows. Ran into a crew of co-workers, skied some runs with ‘em, and invited them for some apres beers in the lot. None of them had ever heard of Hamm’s (they were all twentysomethings). Most of them thought it tasted better than PBR, which they were familiar with. One of them was all excited when I told him you could get Hamm’s at the local Savemart and it was actually cheaper than PBR.
    Haven’t seen it since, though…

I haven't had a Hamms in a few years but I don't think this is true. Pabst has a distinct muskiness to it, I once won a domestic taste test because everyone thought the best tasting beer was Pabst when in reality it was Banquet.

My personal history with Anchor runs deep. I collected Anchor Christmas Ale bottles as a teen, and I first toured the brewery as a college student in 1986. It was this beautiful and historic place that inspired me to become a home brewer and eventually to study brewing and pursue a career in making beer. I drank Anchor Steam whenever I found it after I moved away from the Bay Area, and I bought a six-pack and a magnum of Christmas Ale religiously each year. Then, I was lucky enough to come back to the Bay Area in 2014 and work for Anchor, running its brewing operations. It was my dream job, the best I’ve ever had.

No, Anchor Brewing isn’t dead yet**

    Anchor Brewing Shutting Down

I've had beer from a pitcher and from a German mug.
I filled up a paper cup
I poured it from a jug.
    I've had beer mild.
    I've had beer bold.
I drink it whenever I can.
But a beer is a beer is a beer is a beer
    Until you've tasted Hamm's.

I've got an Anchor Christmas beer bottle from every year since 1993 except one where I just couldn't find it anywhere.

Hamms on the rocks, is that still a thing?

She said: "Instead of family quarrels, we'll have a bar-room brawl,
"When the Hamm's bear say's its closing time, you won't have far to crawl.
"And when you run out of money, you'll have me to thank.
"You can sleep it off next morning, when I'm putting it in the bank."

What's the connection between Anchor and Platonic? I saw an add for Platonic recently but can't figure out how it's connected to Anchor/this thread. SF-based?

I was at Anchor Public Taps two weeks ago - before shutdown plans were announced, I think? - at 7p on a Tuesday and there were 8 people in the whole place. It was fine, but a little sad - and I’m cognizant that their tap sales are significantly different than their distribution sales.

I just went to Public Taps on Wednesday and it was popping. 20min line for beer. Will be curious if the business can be saved.

Seth Rogen's character is the brewmaster at a small craft brewery that is positioned to be bought by a large corporate chain. It's background stuff, but there are a lot of scenes shot in the brewpub, a fair amount of beer talk woven in.
