Right? There was a reporter on scene that witnessed the entire incident and that's the word he used.

If you attach yourself to a moving vehicle, and there wasn't a high speed chase, shootout, or kidnapping that immediately preceded that attachment, you may be a fucking nut.

EDIT: Well look at that. His arraignment has been moved to two weeks from when it was originally scheduled. Enough time to let this fade from memory before dropping charges at 5pm or buying time to find any camera evidence that may corroborate the story of a man that attached himself to a moving vehicle?

Did it scare any people that can't identify whether a snake is poisonous or venomous?

Chief of PO-lice is throwing arresting officer under the bus for not having body camera on. Is this the beginning of the dropping of charges?

Here’s the video they released. Looks to me like the cop runs up, bangs on the window, and that’s it.

I guess the ruined pants were from them catching on fire.

    Longer video

He's led away in cuffs around 2:45. He pulls in around 0:30. Yes, there is no officer dragged anywhere. And the whole thing is over in just over 2 minutes. Hard to believe, with all the cops around there, that nobody could talk some sense into the arresting officer.

    Ha! Nice one.

I don’t see a whole lot of dragging going on there or failure to stop his vehicle for *checks notes* 30 yards, is that what the report said?

It chaps my ass when someone abuses a position of power then lies about why they had to do so because they can’t control their emotions.

It however warms my heart to see those same liars get caught up in their bullshit.

Can’t wait to see these charges dropped, and the ensuing press conference.

What sucks is that you have to be the number one golfer in the world with exonerating video to avoid being totally screwed by this dipshit cop.

What I don’t understand is how they still haven’t dropped the charges after that video came out. Is the DA trying to lose his job too? They should be issuing Scottie an apology hoping he doesn’t sue them.

Does that video show the entire “event”, or just the removal of Scheffler from the vehicle?

It shows very little, far away and in poor definition. It's impossible to know if it shows the entire event, we don't know what happened before the car comes into view. And we don't know what was said.

That said, what we do know that exists is the first hand account of ESPN's Jeff Darlington standing at the gate when this all happened and he has said time and again that the cop ran up and "attached" himself to the vehicle, not dragged by the vehicle.

We also know that the video that was released, even as limited as Danno points out, does not appear at all to corroborate what the cop put in his arrest report.

I'm not a trial lawyer, but this all seems to be coming up as a slam dunk in front of a jury for Scheffler should the Louisville DA/police want to take it that far.

My only point is that we don't know what happened before the car comes into view. Maybe the officer was already trying to get him to stop and he kept going and the officer got "dragged" (or felt like he did) before they came into view, and that is why in the part we see he launched himself at the car? Maybe Darlington saw this piece but not the prior one?

I do think my hypotheticals there are probably not what happened and that we have likely seen most/all of the interaction with that video, but I always try to imagine plausible scenarios to explain how things happened the way they did or the way someone said they did, and neither that video nor Darlington's report put this completely to bed.

My feeling in general is that if a cop has their body cam turned off their account should not be given any more weight than any other witness. Turning it off implies a level of untrustworthiness

There’s a longer video out there - the cop is clearly full of shit. And no body cam. I mean come on. There’s a reason Scottie’s lawyer is being aggressive.
