What a summer. Been a challenge in northern Ma. Thinking of putting a half worn Assegi on the rear for fall.

I'm heading up to Quebec City area for some riding next weekend. I've never ridden there and haven't been there since I was a drunk college kid.

Any obvious recs for trails/zones, food, beer, etc? I'm going with a crew of strong riders who aren't afraid of hard rides and hazy beers.

A mellow ride is the bike path to montmorency waterfall.
There is a via Ferrata there. I didn't do it but it looked cool.
I went running on the bike path along the st Lawrence and I think it goes really far. Again, road biking.
    Great street performers and poutine

These are all pretty well known now, especially after the QC tourism influencer push this summer:

Empire47 and Sentiers du Moulin are both fantastic trail centers. La Souche is a phenomenal brewpub near E-47, the bar at SDM also very good.

Thanks for the brewery rec. We're narrowed down to a day at SDM, E47 and VBN Secteur Shannahan. Trailforks deliberation has given us plenty of options for routes.

Slab city is one trail that I know we'll definitely be riding. So stoked for that one.

I'm already spending too much time at work watching POV videos of the must do trails.

Here's a copy/paste of my rec's in the Shannahan area. Definitely worth your while. Sentiers Des Moulins and E47 are worth a visit too depending on how much time you have. I'm guessing you've seen Remy Metallier's YouTube vids of his recent Quebec trip. He hits all the good spots.

One small spot worth your visit depending on what route you're taking is Wolf Bike Park. It's a roadside spot near the US border. It's too small to spend the day, but if you're driving by anyway, its a good spot to stretch the legs.

COPY PASTE FROM EARLIER THIS SEASON:

I’ve spent some time in the St. Raymond area. There is a very cool bike scene up there.

Right in St.Raymond there is a bunch of short trails packed in the area labelled “VBN Sector St. Raymond” on trailforks. Park at Roquemont, where there is a bike friendly hotel, welcome centre and a cool brewery. Janky and sketchy is the best way to describe it. Definitely don’t launch any jumps or woodwork blind! There’s some stuff you’ll want to look at first with some manditory airs and sniper landings. It’s small vert trails based on a small ski hill. it’s decent for a couple quick laps.

It’s definitely worth making the trip out to the zone labelled “VBN Sector Shannahan” on Trailforks. Is a beauty zone with much longer trails. As you said, “Nelson Est” is well worth it. The first half is a pedal up an excavated climbing trail. The really tech stuff starts after that. Quite tech and a bit janky, very scenic with some sweet riverside rock sections. It’s a long ass ride by comparison to the other zone in St. Raymond. That same climbing trail accesses a modern black jump trail called Godzilla. It’s fun and worth it but you burn down the trail in 5 minutes and your back at valley bottom. Both trails are shuttleable by the same access road. It’s really rough so a proper 4x4 is required and there’s a gate that is sometimes manned where you have to pay a fee to shuttle. Sometimes there’s no one there and we just drove right through.

There are other trails in that zone too. The valley bottom green and blue stuff is good for a mellower ride, and the zone with Boreal, Aurora and Legende is worth checking out if you’ve already done Nelson Est. My memory of that zone isn’t as good but I remember steep tech climbs and more sketchy jumps and woodwork.

The Shannahan zone has bike friendly rental cabins and a little bike shop and restaurant. I think there’s a campground out there too.

The whole Shannahan zone is closed during hunting season.
    Enjoy!

Fyi. Anyone that rides Fort Rock should know about this. Probably going to have fund raising events to bridge the gap IF the towns choose to take it over. Otherwise, all the new fun trails and older stuff will be lost which would completely suck.

Looking at losing most of what's in the red box...not exact but close.

Going up to stowe for a few days, after riding the last week in Bentonville. With the rain is the snow on trails gone? Is it worth bringing a mtb? Or worth renting a fatbike for a few days? The skate skiing looks terrible so trying to find a way to get moving a bit that doesn’t involve a 200$ lift ticket.

Unless we get a freeze everything will be too soft/wet. Easy to rent a fatbike in stowe, and the skate skiing at craftsbury or sleepy hollow is ok (thanks to snowmaking). Bringing running shoes wouldn’t hurt.

Water aerobics at the Pump House is probably your best bet.

As a data point to share, we just opened our MTB network to bikes at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center because there's no snow on them. Now we closed them because they're muddy.

    Happy New Year all.

I probably should post to the larger group but thought I would start small first.

The wife and I are planning a trip to Switzerland in September (maybe late August) for our honeymoon. I have told her I wanted a few days dedicated to riding as it has been on my bucket list for a long, long time. I don't even know where to start.

I will be riding solo, unless someone is aware of a guide. I have done a bunch of looking but haven't found anywhere that does a solo trip - mostly multi-day tours. Renting a bike is essential; I will be bringing my helmet, shoes, etc but can't bring the bike. All regions are fair game; we are still in the planning stages but incorporating the riding is essential.

Has anyone been there, done that? Where did you go? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Northeast 2023- Wheels Up! Sehnd Eht!

Headed to Brattleboro on Friday for a work-related site visit, figured I’d hit Boston Lot on the way back to Montpelier as I’ve never ridden there. Anyone willing to show me around for a 2ish hour ride Friday afternoon (pretty flexible on start time)? If not, can anyone recommend a 12-15 mile loop worth checking out?

Riding is topnotch RN, no leaves[for great vistas], no bugs[for relaxing stops] and trails dryer than last summer[fuck those valley wide mud-it's that never get fixed].

Not available to ride Friday, but last time I rode Boston Lot I did a slight variation of this trailforks loop:
    https://www.trailforks.com/route/3-p...lygon,waypoint
Would recommend and sounds like about what you're looking for. Western section is a little flowier and the eastern quarry peak area is a bit chunkier, overall a fun place to ride.

I’ve been riding every other evening and it feels good. Having to bring a small saw in my pack to clear downed trees from our Winter storm damage here on the Coast. Carriage roads still closed to cycling, but the fire roads are accessible.
