Didn’t score enough to sweep the Mets. Although Olson picked up number 43.

I feel like the interleague games sometimes lean towards being nearly an exhibition anyways. Braves manager Snitker is definitely pulling all the levers trying to figure out how to manage our pitching right now. Hasn’t tried a position player yet.

Uh WTF is wrong with Wander Franco?

ESPN is bending over backwards not to say what is going on, but the internet says he’s dating a 14 year old girl.

Yeah and he just happened to sit yesterday in the midst of his best hitting stretch of the season.

Are the Padres sending thank you flowers to the Mets for taking the heat off the choke job season they are putting together? I can’t figure out how that lineup is so bad.

And this is just an incredibly bad look (on top of him leaving the dugout in the 5th inning):

Seriously. The New York teams are overshadowing the west coast clubs that also stink despite their potential

The Padres are interesting but the demise of the two NY squads is pretty shocking.

The Mets won 101 games last year, and the Yanks 99 in the weighted and toughest division. Although going from worst to first is rare it sort of makes sense with the wheels coming off the Yanks halfway through last season with injuries (though who would have though Rodon and Nestor would barely pitch?). The Mets added talent to that roster and should have been better.

Looking forward to firing season (have been for years), no way Cash and Boone can be retained with a sub .500 finish.

    Let's go Braves!

Eh, they didn't really add much, if any, talent. Don't get me wrong, the decline has been shocking, but they replaced Degrom with Verlander, they replaced Bassitt and Walker with Quintana and Senga. Verlander was better than Degrom (in that he actually pitched 30 innings more), but Quintana was out almost all of the season (he's pitched something like 5 games). Senga has been good but it seems pretty clear that overall, Bassitt/Walker was better/more reliable than Quintana/Senga. Who else did they add? And Scherzer missed time and was noticeably worse this year. Losing Diaz for the entire season didn't help.

Still, even with all of that, they should have been better than they have been.

Luis Severino is having the worst season of any pitcher to every start so many games for the Yanks by far. It’s been really impressive watching his ERA go from a comfortable 5 to 6 to 7 to 8. I’ve wanted him out of the rotation for so long that I’m now looking forward to watching the Braves hang double digits on him tonight. The more embarrassing this gets the more likely CashBoone can get fired. Last week they did this silly thing where they used an opener for him because hitters are one dotting him in the first but the problem is that he’s pitching, not the inning, and they’re the only ones that can’t see it.

    All aboard the loser train.

No Angel, it's because you're just a really, really bad umpire.

MLB just needs to send the judge to watch one of his games, then watch literally any other game and the case would be closed.

I love how they can say that statistically he’s awful.

Sevy gives up 3er in 4ip and his ERA goes down a bit. Love the guy but it was a little disappointing that the Braves kept the gloves on.

So your down with Robot Umps finally?

Waiting for the UmpScorecard to compare to this which you had nothing to say about ya homer.

I heard yesterday that Austin Hedges is the best in the game at framing pitches that are outside the zone. He's a great clubhouse guy as well and works well with everyone he catches. Too bad he can't hit his way out of a paper bag.

I’ve been down with robot umps for a long time.

That pitch looked like a strike to me (a Red Sox fan)

If we get robot umps then I fear we may lose a key part of the game, players getting tossed after chewing out the Angel Hernandezes of the world after a terrible call. And I'm not sure I'm ready to let go of that.

Seems sensible to have a cue in the umps hat. So the robo-ump says strike it’s higher pitched tone, ball lower. Then if the ion-field guy wants to overturn it he can. Of course, MLB would audit why you’re overturning.

I think baseball is better this year with the pace, so my fear is we lose that momentum.

Listening to post-game interviews with Noah Syndergaard really makes me feel bad for the guy. He flat out says in one sentence that he doesn't have the feel that he needs on the ball to execute. Then in the next sentence he explains how that led to his latest fuckup. Then he ends it with a recitation of how much he loves this game and how he wishes he could get back to his old self.

I can't imagine how gut-wrenching that must be to be on top one day then have it all go away and you don't know why.
