Did the mighty Yankees just drop a series to the NLWest basement dwelling Rockies?

Looks like no mlb playoffs in any Burroughs of New York this season

Lol, this Guards-Pirates game at PNC Park sounds like a fucking home game for Cleveland. The chants of José, José, José… the applause and cheers, all CLE.

    Not a small crowd either.

If MLB isn’t thinking seriously about geographic realignment, then they should tune into this game to see that fans will make a 2 hour drive in numbers.

At first when they started talking about adding 2 more teams last week I clung to my nostalgia and current division lineup. Then after realizing that with the elimination of pitchers hitting, universal DH, and the new rule changes, that there is no difference whatsoever between the AL and NL anymore and that if 2 new teams are coming in, than what better time for a massive realignment.

Weekend series against division rivals that are actually a reasonable drive away for fans makes too much sense. Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday day game all a 2 hour drive away and the home team gets a bunch of tourist money in town for the weekend? What a terrible idea.

Makes a ton of sense so I assume it’s a non-starter with the league office and the owners.

Why have a bunch of fans from your division rival that's a reasonable drive away in town to spend money when you can play 13 games against Kansas City and hope your fans make the 12 hour drive or buy an airline ticket?

That’s the kind of thinking that will get you places!

Although Mookie said he thinks KC is his favorite ballpark to play at, so maybe the players would be bummed to miss out

Fun fact. The Pirates sign Skenes for $9.2MM signing bonus. Only one player on the team has a salary greater than that--the 3rd baseman,

I heard that last night watching the game. It’s incredible how much first round talent the Pirates have you would assume within 3 to 4 years they would be a solid roster. I was also incredibly surprised to see Andrew McCutchen on the field last night I thought, for sure that guy was retired.

Could the Angels trade Ohtani for a relative haul that gets their roster stronger and then make a push to sign him in free agency or does trading him shut the door on him ever signing with them long term?

Either way, it will be interesting to see how they mess this up.

Red Sox tried this with Jon Lester and with Mookie and neither time got their guy back. I think it Ohtani goes to a contender, he would end up staying.

Interesting, I completely forgot that the Sox tried that with Mookie.

I wish it didn't feel like an inevitability that he is going to be in Doyer blue sooner or later.

Jays fans broke records again for the most hot dogs consumed at the last Loonie Dog Night - 75,173 hot dogs, that's a DPF of 1.76.

    Congrats I guess?!

Anyone know the last time no NY teams were in the playoffs?

    Looking likely this season...

Local sports media is going to go nuts

They'll forget all about it once A-aron and the Jets take the field.
