Well, you're right. But that's OK. We slug sucking sadbags are just offering what little we've got.
All who want to go directly to W/BC are welcome to do so. And those who'd like to pass though SeaTacingham are welcome to touch base with the in duh viduals there.

Washington areas are on the way in (or out) for many, hence a chance to hit areas that you might not get to otherwise.

It's sounding like it may be a few days at Crystal/Alpy/Baker on the early end, then a week at Whistler...unless someone has a better idea...

Note: all those touching Baker Boy's base do so at their own risk. Similarly for most of the Baker crew.

    a. its much cheaper to fly into SeaTac than Vangroovy from the states
    b. why not get a locals tour of some sweet stashes on the way up?
    c. I for one will be heading south from w/b to have a look at resorts Ive yet to ski with peeps Ive yet to meet.

Kind of defeats the purpose of a summit, IMO. It's like having a family reunion in different cities - defeats the purpose.

People go to the summit to meet other and ski with other maggots. How are you going to do that when everyone is all over the place? If I'm going to go all the way up to Whistler for the summit, I'd be thinking, yeah it would be great to meet and ski with Powder11. Oh, I guess I can't because he is in Washington. Sorry, I still think it doesn't make sense.

Sure, get a locals tour of some sweet stashes, but do that before and on your way up to the official "Whistler Summit"

Does anyone agree with me, or am I totally out on a limb here?

BZ, it's a bit sketch only because Whistler and Seattle are so close together. I fully understand what you are saying, however, p-11 is right when he says it's cheaper to fly into Seattle than it is W/B. It's going to cost me and Lego only around $350 for the both of us to fly to Seattle, round trip, from Reno. A flight from Reno to Vancouver, however, tacks on around $200 per person to that cost!! Yikes! So, in that sense, I'd rather fly into Seattle and, oh, hey - there are ski resorts here, so I'll stop over for a bit!! Know what I mean?

Anyway, I see your point. I say, get on it and go to W/B for a week, and there will definitely be new maggots for you to meet and ski with. You just may not get to ski with p-11.

I hear ya man, I hear ya. Ponder this...

Tahoe Summit went off splendidlyiciously terrifically well and we put well over 350 miles on the Suburu for that trip (once we got there) and probably skied with more than 50 maggots at over 5 days at 4 resorts and a BC day too! Saw some family and skied with some non maggot friends too!
I think it will all work out>check back in 3 months or so when the maggotinerary comes out.
[small print]Come down to Crystal for a day or at least hit Baker once. You'll be kicking yourself later if you don't[small print]

I'm planning to be as summitficious as possible but am both genetically and logistically unfit to commit so far in advance.

At Crystal in 2003 it dumped about an inch an hour for nearly three days March 3-6, and did a near-repeat in 2004. (In 2005, it...uh...I had a fantastic time at Mammoth that week.)

I hear that watching junkies shoot up in Gastown has become a tourist attraction.

Nice, way to commit divegirl! Like monique, I am genetically unfit to say for sure this early, although it is quite likely I will drive up to crustal to hang with buster and others 3/5-3/8.
W/B is worth the trip for the sushi alone. Mmmm sushi village/sushi ya...

So, who else is going to this thing?? Shouldn't everyone else be gettin' on it?

And hey - who knows - this may be the only time I'll be able to ski this year, considering the local weather!!! BOOOOO to that!!

I'm pretty confident I'll be there for at least a weekend.

Which condo are you staying at, divegirl?

If you want to get stoked a little, go to W/B's website and look at the video where they pan around to show what terrain will be opening on Whistler this weekend. If it doesn't make you drool you don't deserve to be called a skier

Sushi Village is amateur (althought we'll probably hit that too). The real action we want to hit is Tojo's Omakase style.

I'll most likely be able to offer a ride or two from Van to Whistler.

Plan on hitting the Baker/Crystal/Alpental portions too.

Mounted the ski box on my new Element this weekend. So have room for me plus 3.

    I'm drooooooooling!!!

I'm also a little p.-o.-ed that I won't be able to ski this year until December (I know, stop bitching, take out the bike)...unless I head up to Squaw and hike. There are some tracks already up there, as I was able to photograph yesterday (on work time!!) due to a job site visit. (At Squaw, I know, are you all jealous of me now?)

Edit - yay Shirk, maybe we'll hit you up for a ride (provided we don't rent a car) in exchange for some wine or beer?

    mmmm beer.

Floor space for one maggot with sleeping bag is also a welcome trade for rides

Eldo and I are in, booked at the Alpenglow at the Edge Card rate from Sunday March 5 to Friday March 10. Hope it keeps snowing as this advance planning stuff is completely at odds with how we usually do stuff. But looking at rates it was to good a deal to pass up. Hope to see a lot of people up there..

Or spam the crap out of it in the Ski/Snowboard section. Start a new thread targeting the specific stuff needed to make it happen. As I am not out there untill late Jan early Feb I can't really get much done in the helping organize.

Same for me - I'll be up there no matter what, might take a midweek day off if there's a large mag contingent up there, would be cool to meet and ski with everyone. I'll probably have weekend car space for the van/whistler connection too.
